I'm almost positive we've had this conversation before. Maybe it was with Waggledaddy.

Quick question, I have about 2 1/2 inch gap on passenger side between fifth wheel and trailer and nothing on the other side. I have had a little gap before buy I have never noticed such a big gap before, I am empty right now so could that be it?

Is this right after coupling or after driving a while?

If after coupling I would pull to more level ground and recoup let.

If after driving you're just on undeveloped ground. pull up a bit and the gap will disapear.

Make sure the fifth wheel jaws are covering kingpin and the handle hasn't been pulled.

The hammer jockey in me says that's major wear on the fifth wheel pivot bushings and/or locking Jaws being out of adjustment

I lost a trailer once around Chicago on the 80. I was going about 3 mph and luckily caught it on the drives.

I had hooked up correctly and had driven over 300 miles.

I then was able to re-hook and drive to a shop for inspection.

You gentlemen care to venture a guess as to how that could happen?

Worn lockjaw or obstruction not allowing it to latch fully?
