There's no mystery about their identity. You've all but drawn a picture of them.

Why would you be sitting at FL waiting for their doors to open Tuesday? Sounds like you're prepared to pay right now and chase a claim later in order to move your load. Is there absolutely no road service providers with the equipment needed to bleed the fuel system out right now? You know that just because they open Tuesday doesn't mean they'll fix you on Tuesday, right? Dropping into a dealership (not just FL for what it's worth) is like stepping out of the world of time.

If your not directly paying the $1000 fine, I'd be really surprised if you get that back. And if you do pay it, I'd be somewhat surprised as these things happen and the truck service centers are not legally liable for much more than truck damage.
I'm not trying to start any arugment, just my experience.
I would be thinking more like Redforeman in just trying to get it fixed as soon as possible.

    Just an FYI,

you don't need a computer, you don't need to worry.

The truck should have been towed at the expense of the shop just out of principle, they screwed it up, they need to cover it.

There is a tool that is made to bleed the air out of the system, it is something that any shop should have if they work on DD/MBE engines because all of them use the same fuel system. The tool makes it easy to bleed the air out of the system and where I first saw it was at the place they make the engine.

The dealer will follow their book procedure and charge accordingly, but may use the took to bleed the system and forget the book procedure.

By the way, they may have licensed mechanics but that doesn't mean they are smart.

RedForeman I'm not really concerned about the identity of the company Im just not here for flaming. I won't confirm or deny. I am not prepared to pay now and chase a claim later. Freightliner told me they would get it in friday morning, the foreman checked it in the parking lot friday morning and said that it might be more then a quick fix. The truck needed to be hooked up to the infamous Freightliner computer, that I know for sure. My lesson is to not do full services on the road anymore unless it is a place that I know and trust. The shop that screwed it up has already been in contact with Freightliner (and me) about paying the bill directly.

Ridgeline You don't quite understand the perils of the Mercedes engine. There is no way in hell I'm going to dump money into a fly by night at this point. I screwed up with my choice of full service location and now I pay the price with downtime, for the last time.

it's too bad it can't just be run out. like an isx engine.

take the filter off. your going to get air in the system. no way around it. can't just pull the filter off and create a vacuum around the area. usually takes a second start before mine gets going.

I honestly don't think that first mechanic knew what he was doing. He had changed the filter 3 times by the time I took a look at it AND SAW AIR BUBBLES in the filter. So, by this time I think there was too much air in the system. It needs the Freightliner computer. I'm worried something else got damaged in the process like a censor or worse.

With a fuel filter replacement that is so fickle, there's no way anyone other than numero uno would be changing fuel filters even if I was paying for oil changes. Look how much money was lost here from not diy a simple 15 minute filter swap.

Why the hell would anyone want to 1) Own an engine so finicky? 2) Trust a truckstop shop to service it, knowing this? 3) Not know how to correct it simply or prevent it from happening?

It took only one time for me to never get back to Ta in Lake Station In shop. Mechanic lied about inflating tires, did not tighten oil filters which began leaking a week later and also messed up fuel filter.Younger mechanics are definitely a bigger risk, get like 2 hrs of training and good to go. After an experience like this, no PM on the road unless it is an emergency.
