The dude from Celadon is a real good snake oil salesman. Promises you the sun and moon during the phone call. You can keep everything the same. And, yes their insurance is better on paper because they are a larger carrier and get a better group rate but it really isn't cost efficent. Then when you start asking him questions you realize how screwed you'd be. No idling, forced dispatch, electric powered APU, routing and a lot of other big company micro management. I know a large number of people who have already quit. They are having trucks and loads left everywhere or being brought hundreds of miles out of route. If you decide to stay and get a load close to Indianapolis prepare to go to orientation and clean out your truck. They are already scheduling drivers for that.
There are several people quitting on principal because of the way they treated New Albany and Omaha. Who in the hell wants to move to Indianapolis. And, if they did relocate their entire whose to say Celadon won't drop them after their 90 day probationary period?

meant that going back to Celadon is an absolutely positively last resort.

The trucks are already being offered for sale by Quality Equipment, Celadon's equipment disposal subsidiary. Most of the trucks were glider kits?

Hey folks, can I throw something out here? Now I've never worked for Celadon or FR. But I have gone through corporate buy outs of various kinds.
I know you all are nervous, as you have a right to be. But what is wrong with waiting to see what happens with where you are, rather than the knee jerk reaction of jumping ship right now? I'm not saying you shouldn't get your resumes ready, and even start looking around. But don't jump from where you are now, into something that you might find is worse. Give the new outfit a chance. If you don't like it a few months down the road, you can always leave then.
Again, I understand the wondering and the nervousness. BTDT, and didn't like it one bit! Good luck to all of you! -
Celadon is a BOTTOM FEEDER. And, their screwing over the office people hard so why wouldn't they screw over the drivers as well. Bringing people into Indy to clean out their trucks with no notice isn't business as usual.
Big Don Thanks this. -
