Finish school, maybe even go to trade school and learn a trade, unless you can keep busy in state you can't cross state lines until 21 anyway.
I'm 41 and driven truck or farmed all my life. I'm sick of driving truck but it's provided well for me. I'd love to go get a normal job now but can't afford the pay cut

Google brought this up New federal rule for entry-level CDL training goes into effect in FebruaryRideandrepair and Siinman Thank this. -
I saw that too. A motor carrier can be approved to be on the Trainer Provider List also.
Doesn’t have to be a school per se, just approved by FMCSA.
You are correct about the February change.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -

As others said...finish school. It'll make you a better choice in the eyes of a future employer. Whether it's retail, fast food, sales, trucking, professional go-carting, etc etc. Get your high school diploma. If you don't do that, at lest get your GED. It'll look good with either to future employers.
College, on the other hand...I think one can do just fine without ever going to. Others may disagree, but I can only go off of experience of my own and others I've known. An I know plenty of folks who run a successful business and never went to college.
Remember, you never know what the future will bring. Down the line you may want to do something else, or circumstances may force you on to another path. You can't go wrong with finishing high school.
Good luck.

Stay in high school and learn English, punctuation, grammar, and your basic math. If you don’t have the will power to buckle down and graduate, you likely won’t have the will power to run your own business. Customers don’t want to see people that spell things wrong, have run on sentences with no punctuation, or can’t form things in a somewhat structured way.
Im no beacon of proper English let me tell you, but I can make things look proper and nice when needed. Nowadays with all of the texting, auto correct, social media, etc then things have really gone down hill in a big way.
Don’t take this as picking on you, I’m being serious.onetime42, Speedy356, Rideandrepair and 2 others Thank this. -
