Me and my pop plan to go in as owner ops here soon. He's been behind the wheel for about 20 years as I'm 16 years of age going on 17. I'm not your regular 16 year old lol, I know quite a bit about trucking, trucks, CB's, vehicles, some mechanicing, so on but that's my main points. So here's the current deal, me and my dad are going into trucking as half/half of our company. We already own the name of the company (no authority yet, waiting on truck). But here it is, I've found this truck that we both like but I'd like to know pros and cons from someone that has a similar truck with same specs. It says it comes with warranty which really stands out. I don't want any of the "I know a guy and his buddy has this truck" I want 1st hand experience. Any info will be appreciated.

As long as you stay inside your state you can do some of the drive, sounds like some real learning for you.

Any warranty they will give you at that mileage is probably not worth the paper it is written on. Now possibly, it had an inframe done and is under a CAT warranty. That is all fine and good for the engine but that doesnt mean the rest of the truck is covered. Looks like a nice truck and looks to be well kept. Get all receipts for work done, get it dynoed, and get it checked over by a mechanic before dropping that kind of coin on an older truck. Sure looks nice though. Best of luck!
Voltrucker and 281ric Thank this. -
Yes I agree I have lots to learn. I figure ill do something around home until I turn 21 when I can get out on my own.

Read the warranty cover to cover first then decide if it is for you. I once paid for a warranty and assumed, oh, " I got a warranty, I'm covered, when this clutch just went out ". Little did I know that the warranty does not cover items that are "Wearable or can wear out" including, you guessed it, a clutch. It was a hard / expensive lesson learned. It usually isnt the engine that goes that is covered by the warranty, it is the 9 things bolted to it, egr cooler, radiator, air compressor, fan clutch, etc....which are not covered by the warranty.
As BigCam said, it is a nice looking truck but as long as you and dad realize you are paying for the CAT and the W900 up front and in fuel consumption. Perhaps what you guys will be doing you need these specs ( you do not say in your post ) but you should be able to get into something a little newer and less miles for less money starting out. To each there own. -
This truck is worn out, it has over a million miles (1,010,592 mi). This is over priced for the mileage. As far as warranties, the are worth the paper there printed on when the mileage is this high, run dont walk away from this truck.

I dont agree with that necessarily Powder Joints. Although I do think the truck is overpriced, to say a truck is worn out because it has a million miles on it is jumping the gun a little. Who knows, maybe it has a CAT inframe, and the driveline has been gone through. At that asking price though, the seller better have receipts to back it up. If you guys are mechanically inclined and dont mind wrenching, I think you would be better off with something a little older. Like say a 98-03 era truck. If you want a Pete or KW, great, but you are probably going to pay more than you would give for an International or Freightliner with the same motor/trans/rears. You really need to get a truck that is setup to do what you want to do with it. By the way, what do you plan to do with it?

Mr Power!
what is ideal price you think? -
Being an O/O in todays world is a joke, it looks good on paper, but its not worth the time and money, O and no money, if you think a buck eighty a mile is good, think again. Their easier ways to make money, like being a broker, more money, a lot less work

Plan on pulling dry van or reefer.
baha Thanks this.
