Better stay away from or quit Gainey,Super Service,Core Trans, they have filed bankruptcy, and if they do like other company's I've worked for who have gone broke, you'll never get your money from them when the day comes and they shut down.

I wondered why I've recently seen so many Career Builder ads for them hiring drivers in several states, when no one else in hiring. They get new guys who don't know what's going on,then run them do death, never pay them right, and "take the money and run" as they close down.

They have been in bankruptcy for a few months now. Grand Rapids yard is full of trailers but they are still running. Harvey is trying to work things out and save it, dont know if he will be able to though.

The judges and court overseeing Gainey and their bankruptancy case has ruled in favor of Gainey in almost every aspect. Harvey Gainey is a well respected Philanthropist and has a lot of support. The whole Wachovia Bank under handedness has been seen for what it is, and they have reaped their just "rewards". As far as Gainey, from all the information I've read, the company is turning around, and is reclaiming lost accounts across the board. Understand that unless you are privy to vital information, you are responding to opinion and rumors. I believe they are going to pull through and re-establish themselves as a major player in the industry again.

While I am not a Gainey "fan" I sincerely hope they make it. A lot of people depend on that company and it's holdings. Not just the people that they employ but all of their vendors and the vendors employees. When a carrier the size of Gainey goes out of business for whatever reason the entire community is affected and if they've got facilities anywhere else, those communities are also affected. So for the people who depend on them to make a living let's hope that all of the naysayers are wrong and that they make a comeback.
One thing that people don't realize is that every negative remark made to a customer may jeopordize that account that's one of the things that "help" a company loose revenue and quite possibly close. Driver gossip and office gossip can hurt. So, people need to keep their negative remarks to themselves and instead talk about the positive so that the hard working people employed at Gainey can continue to take care of their families.
I don't work for Gainey and have no stock in them but hope that they continue to stay in business for the sake of the people that they employ.

A neighbor of mine was working for a fine Gainey company called Super Service, (he quit 5 weeks later after getting screwed on a couple of pay checks) and a couple of friends he made while there told him they are shutting down the Somerset,Ky (main)office, yard, shop, etc. That's all he knows right now. Hmmm, wonder what's happening with them?

When companies have financial problems they start trimming. They sell assets, cut employees down to the bare bones, close facilities that might not be needed. Anything that isn't profitable goes. It's to keep the rest of the business going. That may have been what happened to Super Service.

:yes2557: For what they pay their owner ops and company drivers, it's a wonder how in the world they could go broke! Harvey may b well respected but is a failure in business along with the other cheap freight hauling cronies there in the grand rapids area. Others like Van kampen, Van Eerden, Grassmid, and forgot the rest of them who like to come in and cut the rates in the chicago area.

Bankrupt...rriiiiggghhtt.. they just want to clear their books legally without paying the bills. So they cook the books to show a loss for a few years and Oh no!! look we're bankupt!! Just like GM, Chrysler, AIG, and all the rest. Jump on the bandwagon and get the government to pay off your debt.
