I have heard poor reviews of both, try to do a search for them on these fourms useing the search tool up above. I have heard more about gainy then the other. They seem to have a my way or the highway kinda attitude from what I gather.
-
thanks for the info.

don't go with gainey, the equipment is in bad shape, the bulk of their drivers walk around and complain, they don't reimburse for all tolls, no eazy pass, if your tolls don't match your logs, you won't get paid., they only reimburse up to 150 per week for tolls....and you know if you get stuck up north, you'll pay more than that in tolls. ,
rude inexperienced staff. no buffer time for their run, sometimes not even enough time to fuel or get a bite to eat.
i gave them a week.
celadon might not be as bad, but they don't have eazy pass either. -
Celadon isn't bad
-
I'm not sure about Celadon, however
NEVER--EVER work with Gainey!!!!
They always have some drama with paying after drivers have done everything that they are supposed to do.
All owner operators are currently being let go--fired--terminated--canned. Harvey Gainey sent a message last week via Qualcom advising they are closing the Fort Wayne office. Then--after the drivers drop their loads, they are route them into the terminals and strip them of their plates, stickers, everything they own. Drivers are being terminated as we speak--without any further explanation!!!!
This is an extremely poor business practice and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone, even if they get their act together in the future. Furthermore, they have issues paying their drivers and are extremely unprofessional! -
that is very sad. i sure am very grateful for your input. i could never see myself driving for a carrier like that. i wonder how do they even stay in business with practices like that. that is totally unprofessional on gainey's part.

I like Celadons vacation set up. 1 Week paid for every 30,000 miles I believe it was.
-
Oh no right when i start to like you LOL
I worked for the company once and I can tell you they do not preplan... thus creating long down times....
I always hated going to Waxahachie, TX because it was guaranteed that you would be sitting no less then 18 hours and 90% of the time you then would get a load 200 miles because the loads at wax are the loads comming from Mexico and where brought up to wax by Mexican truck drivers and leaving hardly no miles left on them....
I was told once by management that it is not their concern to take into consideration what a driver may need or think..... hold on a sec i still have this guys name let me go dig it out ( i will edit this spot in a few) well I have not been able to find that notepad (I save them all, just seems like a reinsurance thing) but I do believe the guys name was Marco
2100-2500 was the norm over 3000 miles was a very rare occasion....
Maintenance
Very poor.....
They are second to non when it comes to thumping tires and checking the lights but far as real mechanical issues they are poor and very slow in getting those issues corrected.. put it this way I was on the side of the road twice before they fixed an issue "correctly" I kept telling them about.
(bad heater core and fan clutch)
And that was just on one of the trucks i had...
In the Indianapolis yard my truck was broken into while having it serviced for a PM, I was at home for home time.(if you worked for them then you know how easy it is to get into another company driver truck.)
Name a few items TV, CB, cooler, GPS ,monkey made Antenna ext...
over $1800 was stolen
They did not and would not even consider reimbursing me for my loss even though i had given the shop my keys and giving them control of the truck and its property...
I could go on but that was my "personal" experience with them and I could not feel good about recommending this company to anybody.... -
.
No They are not responsible for stolen goods on their property, unfortunately you can't blame them for that. If that was the case they would need a person just to take claims for breaking and entry of trucks as many would take advantage of it.
I do know what you mean about waiting in Wax & laredo, but freight is starting to look better now.
