They're a great radio if setup properly. I highly recommend buying it and getting it tuned from bellscb.com. He's awesome with those radios. Those radios swing about 250. Whatever you do, DO NOT RUN IT OFF OF A FACTORY ANTENNA!!!! I recommend running a Wilson 2000 trucker or a Wilson 5000 trucker.

you will also have to wire that radio directly to the battery box with at least 8 gauge wire i do believe.

    Agree,
I would want 6 gauge wire from the battery to feed that beast.Add about a 50 amp fuse inline.

Bells is who is getting my new DX94HP ready,It is about 120 watts and they suggested 8 gauge wire to feed it and a 35 amp fuse at the battery.

I looked a custom but his prices were higher and Bells does do great setups.
Either way that should be a monster audio setup!

I have a company truck and I can't hook it up directly to the batteries. Can't I just use the already wired factory CB terminals?

No way! It will cook those wires! They are usually on a 5 to 10 amp fuse.
From what i have read the 98 VHP will pull up to 40 amps.
The first time you key the mic.....poof!

You will need to wire it direct, run new coax and a good antenna.
    What make is the truck?

Mine is a company truck also but i'm running the power off the battery, along the frame, through a rubber grommet that is already in the firewall,up the A-pillar and over to the upper console.
So no need to drill any holes.
Also most sleepers have rubber plugs in the bottom you could use to get it in the cab.
I have 4 AWG run like that to my inverter.

Did you end up ordering from Bells?

It's a company Schneider truck. Freightliner Century. I think it's against company policy to wire anything to the battery.

Man,That sucks! No way that radio will run on those little factory wires!
I would be asking your shop if you can do it as long as no holes are drilled.

Also check your fuse panel inside the truck and see if a main power feed can be found there.

    BossOutlaw88 Thanks this.

If he runs it off the fuse panel, his dash will light up like a Christmas tree. Run it and run it only directly to the battery. I think the op should've asked these questions before he ordered the radio. There's absolutely no way the prewired cb hookup will run that radio!
