Anyone ever dealt with Gallagher at Landstar? When I came over to Landstar 5+ yrs ago, they were primarily recommended as the insurance to use. I haven't had any problem up untill now but since I now have an issue the "honeymoon" seems to be over and I'm looking for some advices.
Recently I had both my truck (Kenworth W900L w/Studio Sleeper) and all aluminum 53' Benson/Transcraft Stepdeck trailer stolen w/ too many to list of equipments and personal belongings.
When I first reported the theft to my insurance company, they said that we (wife and I) have to wait a whole month before they settle. Going on nearly two months and I think I'm getting the run around. Well passed the first month, I'd spoken with Zed Landers (Senior Resolution Manager) at Gallagher - said he'll call me back that afternoon (Monday) or the next day but he didn't. Few days later (Thurs), I left a msg on his answering machine. He called back next day and said my number was in his system wrong and that he couldn't contact me. The same mobile phone that Landstar has in their system the whole time since I've been here, the very same phone number I always leave on his answering machine because he never picks up when I call during business hrs and the same phone he always call be back on. Asked some information regarding the truck and trailer. Then when I mentioned about the APU on the truck, he said it wasn't listed. When I said it declared when I was signing up for the insurance, he got irate and refer over to Gallagher rep at Landstar in Jacksonville, FL. That rep never answers her phone but her co-worker said that they couldn't find a copy of my insurance form in Landstar's imaging and that they''ll have to go through storage and look up the original sign up form. Said they'll call me when they find it but not holding my breath. It was custom truck: roof mount A/C, Double Eagles' Kubota Generator w/ matching storage boxes on both sides, full double hump fiberglass fenders, 3 door headache rack, stainless steel bumper, etc....
This is the first time going though this hassle and I wanted to hear if anyone else had experienced anything similar. They say, experience is the best teacher. I'm reframing from getting attorney for now due to high cost but I may get to that eventually. Apparently it is all that common to go after your own insurance company. I tried OOIDA but they don't seem to be of any help. Appreciate any helpful incite.

Sorry to hear for your loss. Hopefully they will tighten up and release you the funds they collect from all of us. I used Gallegher once for a workmans comp issue I bruised my foot real bad once and it took a while to settle. Had to stay on them. And basically do their job for them essentially to keep peddling the bike if I wanted it to go anywhere

It seems they didn't have any issue when they were collecting "X" amount of premium for all those years for a "X" amount of coverage but when a loss occurred, now they're insinuating Kelleys' Blue book value. They still haven't stated any ($) figures but already trying to "nickle and dime" it down.
Hypothetically, lets just say someone just insured a brand new truck for $150,000 and wanted to save on insurance premium, just insures it for $10,000. It gets stolen in short time there afterward and that individual say "lets go by Kelleys Blue Book Value". Does anyone truly believe their reply would be anything other than a single obvious amount of coverage? -
You can state any value you like, but they are only going to pay on actual value, or less if you insured for less. That's not just Galagher. Your documentation is going to be necessary in proving the value. The vehicle being lost for 30 days happens for stolen cars as well. At two months though, assuming you've upheld your end of the deal, it's probably time to get your state's insurance commission involved.
HopeOverMope Thanks this. -
If u carried GAP insurance that would have covered the remaining balance possibly if there was a balance due still
