If you're a gamer. Hardcore or just like it to pass the time.

Think before you jump on the new RPG "Dragons Age". Especially if you intend to install it on a laptop.

I now own a $50 paperweight. At least until I update my video card on the home PC.

I have minimum recommended video standards on my PC and laptop. Neither will carry the display load.....not enough horse power. :biggrin_2553:

Thankfully, video card prices are down :D

Don't ya' just hate when that happens? :biggrin_25523:

My husband and son are both gamers, and they purchased a game about two years ago that necessitated the purchase of new video cards for both their computers. We're "regulars" at MicroCenter. :biggrin_255:

Such is the life of a PC gamer. I just finally got to play Crysis wide open. That thing is a resource HOG!

DragonsAge I'm going to get for my Xbox.

Dance, most of us games read the specs on the box to make sure our systems can handle the stuff lol. I know my laptop a high enough end video card, RAM, and processor for most games. The problem is the majority of them are developed for platform gaming such as XBOX360 or PS3 then the port to PC is just a last minute development so comes out crappy. I'll stick to gaming on my consoles, and leave the computer for other tasks.

Runs fine on my new laptop, though I wouldn't even try it on the older one. My roommate saw me playing it and installed it on his desktop with sli cards. It wouldn't even play the opening logo. :biggrin_2559:

I'm caught in Far Cry 2 addiction-land at the moment. Had to beef up the old pyuter to be able to play it with any decent framerates though for sure. Crysis humbled the old setup immediately but now it and FC2 are running at about 60 frames with everything cranked and 1680 X 1024 res. I have no idea what it would do with Dragon's Age - maybe that one will bring it to its knees even more than Crysis???!

Nah, DA isn't that bad. Crysis is still the top behemoth from what I hear. If you can run that, you can run most anything.

Dragon age ran on my desktop. I get lag when i try to up the graphics though. Good game IMO. My fav part of the game had to been in the circle of magi leg of the story. Only part in the game where shape shifting is worth a #### I think. Sucks it wont work for ya though. I run a Pentium D 3.0Ghz with 4 gigs of mem, (even though XP only sees 2 gigs and i cant get vista to work on my box :biggrin_2553:) with 2 radeon hd 2400 cards in crossfire, which are cheap graphics cards to be doin crossfire, which is prolly where i get my lag from.

    Per my post,

My video card is just minimum spec, the rest is well above what's needed.
