I am leaving this evening and I have failed to come up with a gap letter :biggrin_25513: I need a basic gap letter that I can adjust to meet my needs. Western stated that if I can provide two gap letters and my personal references that should cover my 10 year work history.

A 'gap' letter - meaning a gap time in employment?
And one that you can 'adjust' to your liking?

Doesn't sound all that honest to me.
So, not so good luck to you.

Don't the letters have to be signed by either family or neighbors & notorized? Some companies want them notorized.

Well I haven't got a clue as to where I worked in the past ten years and I don't keep records that far back. I have been mostly self/under employed in that time period with a 9-5 here and there but I haven't had anything steady. I haven't had a 9-5 in over two years due to the economy and my rural location, working for $7.25 and having a hour round trip commute every day just didn't make since for a part time position. In this area theres several places that had three or four job openings and fifty to seventy applicant's most of which were over qualified for the position. My sister is a CNA and she can't get more than $7.50-8 per hour with a half hour commute each way, she's having to work up to seven days a week to cover her and her children's basic living expenses. I have been doing what I can when I can to pay for my expenses with out having to drive an hour for gas money.

The GAP letters will be signed and dated by some friends of mine that I have worked for and know what I have been doing.

Trucking companies write their own rules, but usually they want a 3 yr. work history or 10 yrs. if you were a CDL driver. Maybe Western wants it differently.

This isn't something for western but for the feds since the FMCA requires a ten year work history but they will take two gap letters. They might get me to sign a declaration of unemployment when I come in but they mainly want the two signed and dated gap letters from my friends/previous employers.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

Wow, 10 years ain't that long....if we were talking about 20 or 30 years that would be different , you don't need any memory at all to remember who you were working for, or what you were doing if anything from now back to 2003.... I have a cousin who is a CNA , and she is making close to 20 bucks an hour. The area your sister is in must be really depressed economically......Good luck with your letters , just be sure that are factual , the fed's can and will find out if they're not.

Come over to Chicago suburbs. They will fight for an experienced CNA and a truck driver. Seriously. One good stable paying job will make you and lack of it will break you in this country
