I picked up a Garmin Dashcam 10 Thursday in Billings Montana from the Flying J, I did my homework and decided this was the unit I wanted to go with.

Installation was fast and easy, just suction cup it to the windshield, insert the memory card, plug it in and turn it on.

All that is required is that you reset the G shock sensor.

Once the camera was in and setup I remembered the Cobra 19BT CB I am running has a USB port on the back, sure enough it was a powered USB port and I was able to use the short cord included to power the Dashcam keeping my installation neat and tidy.

I took a test video with it leaving Culbertson Montana.

Even though my windshield was plastered with bugs the Dashcam still did a good job of capturing video. Should I have been involved in an accident it would have been really easy to see what had happened.

My only complaint thus far is the stock 4GB Micro SD card included with the unit is only good for about 3 hours of 1080P video which it records in a .avi format. This morning I am going to swing over to Best Buy and pick up a 32 GB card that should give me about 40 hours of video.

The menus and functions of the Dashcam are easy and intuitive to navigate, there are only 4 buttons on the front, from left to right you have the record event button, the tools button, the review button and the take snapshot button. Then there is a power button on the top of the left side.

I'm interested to hear about this. What does that unit cost?

And... you didn't have to pay any sales tax. Just another reason I love (the vast majority of) Montana.

When the memory cap is reached do you have to manually erase the data or does it just record over old data?

It was 210.00 which is on the high end of the Dashcam spectrum, but it is also supposed to be the best of what is out there, we will see.

It records continuously rolling out the old footage, if you want to save something you hit the record button just after it has happened and it will give you the last 10 or so minutes.

I also bought this dashcam and am pleased with it. The only issue I have with it is the sensitivity of the accelerometer. Three settings are offered, and medium and high selections ate so sensitive that it records from bumps in the American roads, so I have to keep it set at low sensitivity and manually push the record button in the event of an incident. Gee, I hope I can remember.

Where there is light it does well, but on a dark highway don't expect much out past the distance that your headlights shine. The image quality is good though, and having it gives me a real peace of mind.

You know how it is out here on the road, sometimes events happen in front of you that you are not involved in but still they make killer movies to have. Like the two motorcycles who were weaving in and out of cars in DC and collided right in front of me... with each other... and the cops zooming in to make the arrest. Or the crop duster in Texas that buzzed my semi.

It's a little pricey at 219 bucks, but I like it's simplicity. Incidentally, Dieselboss sells one that he personally has tested and posted some results here somewhere. It's more affordable and he gives it good reviews. I was in a hurry tho, as always.
