Got to test it out on the south side of Chicago yesterday. It warns you of scale houses in both directions, which isn't helpful. I did hit some traffic tieups (what a suprise) and I was wondering if it would redirect me around it. There were no good solutions and it kept me on route. The lane assist seems pretty useless so far. Didn't offer suggestions in Charleston WV which I find little confusing, but did in Chicago where it was obvious. But I suppose that's going to depend on your experience with an area. I do like the Bluetooth. Didn't think I'd care but I can talk and be heard pretty well.

Ran me off the wrong way on the north side of Chicago today. Off the highway just to get back on again. That's a pretty serious flaw, you wouldn't route a car like that either.

It doesn't seem to care how long my truck is either. I set it up to 100 feet to see if it avoids the turns that are obviously to tight for a truck.

My StreetPilot 7200 did that if I selected "shortest route". The software seems to define "shortest route" to be "as the bird flies". Therefore, if the interstate makes a loop, the navigator instructs you to exit and travel streets that best approximate a straight line. I discovered another little wrinkle in the software. I believe I was somewhere around Las Vegas, going to Phoenix, I entered my routing option as Interstates Only. The route it gave me directed me to Bakersfield, on to I-5, then I-10 to Phoenix, turning a trip of about 150 miles into one about 500 miles.

For the moment, it would appear that the 465T leads the pack; so, any first-hand experiences you find the time to share with us are very much appreciated, by myself, and, no doubt by the many other OP's following this thread. Good luck and keep the shiny side up!

Yeah, I've had a couple of issues. Coming out of Gary IN today I was heading for I 65 off of I 80. GPS wanted me to pull off on some road turn this way or that, but here's this big sign saying I 65 turn right. I had it set to shortest route but I don't think it could have shortened it much. My other garmin did the same thing with shortest route. I know that fastest way for me getting back down to NC was running across OH 35, but the GPS doesn't have all of that mapped. So far it's done OK close in. If you look at the maps, roads that have a color are usually OK for trucks (well your typical 70' x 10'2"x 13'6". At least that was my experience with my earlier one. So far I'm traveling known roads for the most part so I use it as a guide. But I'll update when I see something.

I set mine to fastest because larger roads generally have higher speed limits and should be faster. Doesn't always work quite that way but that's how mapquest figures it. I find that shorter will run you off more because the local streets can go straight through while the highway wraps around so it's technically a bit longer. I'm not sure how the 465 actually figures that out though. I haven't tried the shortest route option on it.

I really wish it would stop throwing up these stupid ads for Best Western and Walgreens. Not even remotely a good idea on this unit.

I did find that if you hit the slide switch and put it to sleep when you stop for a break somewhere, you can wake it back up when you get on the road again and it will pick up where it left off like you never turned.

I don't mind the ads that much. They are small and don't come up that often. Plus it's paying for the traffic reports.

Tried to send me around a turn that was signed no trucks over 40 feet, even though the gps had my truck listed at 70. Guess we'll still have to pay attention :)

Word is Garmin is "LISTENING",to all Garmin owners
requesting a "Truck Specific" Update for units outside of the 465T.

CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE AND LET YOUR VOTE COUNT!
There is no reason the other units should be denied access to such an update.

I called again this week and was told they have had many requests and have started on getting an updated
out to those that have requested it.

Better to pay $50-60 for the update then to drop $450+
on a new unit that will be out dated in another 6-7 months.

    CALL THEM !
