Does anyone have this model or has used it? Would like to know what you all think of the unit since its suppose to be for truckers. Start my trucking career Monday.
Thanks for all input on this.

Personally I love my toys
But I think you could do much better. Here's why.
The Nuvi 5000 is around $800 plus in most places I've looked.
I just purchased the Nuvi 200w for only $210. I've ran it along side my laptop system now for a week. It works fine...so far. The positioning updates are extremely fast. I like that.
I just purchased a new laptop also. I also use a GPS with my laptop, and have done so for almost 4 years. Both can be purchased cheaper than the Navi 5000. And you can add POI's as you go. It includes 1000's, but you may want others.
If you must have a Garmin. Go cheaper. The "truck specific" model you are looking at, is not truck specific. No GPS is truely truck specific, when it comes to routing in inner cities and low underpasses.
The "talking" function is a good option to have. It can prompt your attention, if you tend to day dream a lot.
It may only be my 2 cents. But it could save you 100's -
i am looking at this model right now also as it is only three hundred and ninety nine dollars after a rebate and i have t/a truckstop points which would knock it down to about three hundred. does this unit work good and is it able to be updated over time ?
