What is with you guys and all the "speed" stuff? Much has been mentioned in this forum alone about incomplete databases and map errors etc and there is an outcry for speed alarms and such on the device. I find that funny when both state and local operatives have kindly planted such warning and informational signs in the ground next to many long stretches of road. And their is that handy dandy gauge in the truck as well. And yet, a lot of you want to trust some one else's database for speed limits? A lot of great stuff on the device, however having a speed limit icon on it isn't one of them. In fact, I wouldn't mind seeing that go away to make room for something more useful or just go away period.

    My opinion of course.

Speedometer is off in my truck so I rely on the GPS for an accurate reading.

Alarm would be nice when I am not using the cruise such as construction zones, 2 lane highways where the speed limit varies, etc.

The man asked what I wanted to see in a GPS so I told him...

Problem is with that is, it ain't always accurate. There is a bias built in since it is measured from sat to sat and calculated by distance traveled. It's a good guide- maybe but I wouldn't put my faith on it 100%. Anyway, on the 560 you can change the speed limit icon to what ever you want by clicking on it. It'll turn red at 1 mile over. Best advice though, get your speedo fixed. No court in the world recognize this as a valid speed meter, not precision enough- yet. Hopefully one day these things will catch up to Garmin's aviation line- very fine precision there.

Without buying a specific one for a truck. I would like to see the option to tell it that I'm driving a truck.. I just purchased the Garmin 2555 for my job. I can go into areas in my truck (oil field service) that some trucks can not go.. But I'm afraid that when saving a location, and the using it. That it might send me in a area which indeed my truck can't go.. Also after I updated my maps, it does not reflect the change in speed limits in certain areas.. For instance a part of TX922 I drive on is now a 60mph speed limit, and it has been that way for over a yr.. The map still shows it has being 45mph. I find this to be a problem with most roads I go down. It does not reflect the true speed limit for that area..

Before you go chasing off for another brand, make sure that brand has all the new bugs worked out. Talking from experience here.

make the logbook feature legal!!! all the dot requires is a printout that shows where you were and when, in the same format as is used on ten billion paper logs countrywide cmon Garmin, for a company with your resources it cant be that hard!, I personally know of hundreds of truckers who would love less paperwork!

Paperless logs have to pass an approval process set up by the FMCSA as they have to meet all sorts of criteria. Why would Garmin want to to that? Make this unit too astronomically expensive for the average driver which is the market for this device.

This is concerning the issue of getting the "no data available" message after updating maps...I see on your website you have this problem listed in your FAQ's...

I just went through this ordeal today...spent several hours searching for the answer after whats suggested in Garmin FAQ's didn't help, wasted nearly 6GB's of my data usage downloading the maps 3 times...none of that fixed the problem.

Then I just happened to notice that the SD card was formatted in the exFAT system...I formatted it to FAT32, reinstalled the maps...and it worked.

PLEASE...add this suggestion to the FAQ's on the website.
