Hello, I hauled gasoline (more details if interested) back in the day part time for a local company, while I worked full time for another. Explained next: I would get into the tank on Friday and run 2 loads a day (over border long hauls each load pulled) with split drops on each most of the time, and this up until Sunday (a total of 6 loads hauled with split drops included) per week, for around three years I did this. I had done this with a good record and no incidents or accidents throughout my time period spent there. I was in my mid twenties when I had done this part time job. It was a great experience. I have since returned to trucking during my mid fourties right on up until now (a total of 8 years) so far. I am driving misc.combinations and/or straight trucks at the company I work for currently. I did 25 or more years as a contractor lineman for the utilities, and this through out my earlier career, and trucking was a side during my mid twenties & thirties, but I excelled at that also. I have since hung up my spurs when huge mass lay offs came around 8 years ago in that industry, where next I took a full time job back in the trucking industry once again, and this for the last 8 years driving locally. I have my hazmat and all credentials, a great driving record, background check, and experience that is needed to excell for what ever company I would work for. The most of all is that I have maturity and safety as my main ingrediant for being incident free and accident free to date.

I am looking possibly to get back into a gasoline tanker position once more possibly, as this was a good experience and job back when I had done this sort of thing in the past. I still remember it well and would have no trouble being trained or refreshed back up on it once again with no problem. The reason I am looking now, is that the company I have been working for is going through some tough times, and it seems to not be getting much better for them. The unstable situation is a little bit unstabling for someone who has always been fairly stable in life when it comes to a job, as well as in my personal life when it comes to my family. We have always worked me and my wife in life, and not at many job's either, but only at just a few who were good jobs for the time periods in which we had or still do have these job's in our lives.
Over the span of our careers while working, we have been solid employee's. I prefer local to OTR trucking right now, because I have new grandkids that I want to be around for a little while during their early growing stages. I do have personal choices still I can make, so life isn't a problem in that respect (not desperate or hungry), because I have kept my head level in which has given me those choices in my life, where others may be more desperate yet all depending. I would also like to check out local frieght hauling as well, but as for now I was just working upon what I already know something about or have done in my career thus far. I think that it is best for a company that may be interested in me, to look upon my experiences already in life, instead of the expense it would incur training a complete rooky, and to have that training be a wash in the long run if not careful. If anyone knows of a local company looking for a stand up guy, who has had a great work record so far in life, and has excelled at everything I have been challenged with so far in life, then let me know...Thanks :biggrin_25519:

PS. I am still currently employed here in South Carolina, so I am just shaking the bushes a little bit, just encase a better connection might be made somehow, and just encase things get worse before they get better. Can't blame me for creating more upstanding possibilities in life now can ya ?

I'd hit up driver's if you see them making a delivery that's what I did. Drive by the load rack's to see which companies are out there and call their recruiter's. Here in ks you can make 50k + hauling gas id imagine its the same everywhere.

Yep, that is one way to do it, because I actually put in an application on line for Eagle Transport, but they didnot have anything close enough to me at the time. They are out of Agusta Ga. approxmately 100 miles from me. I asked if they had a truck working the area down this way, and that maybe some shifting could work out in order to accomodate their personel better and/or arrangement, but they said they already had two drivers running the one truck in my area already. Oh well I will keep trying for something closer, but did notice that Gasoline Tanker companies donot advertise or list their job openings under any inet sites in the area for which I live. So yes the roadside interview may be the key when find one off loading his fuel or gas. The last time I had a job hauling gas, my wife worked for the oil company I was working for, so I had some inside help on getting on with them way back in that hiring situation, and it proved to profitable for them and for me at the time....They went out of business (sold the whole company to another), and then I went with the other company part time also, but soon they parked their trucks closer to their home terminal, away from the one in which we were parking at originally, in which made it hard for me to reach them (to many miles away) after that, so I had to quit the part time hauling business when that happened.... Thanks again!
