We do mix gasoline and deisel fuel here at home for burning solid trash and certain other items that wont take fire. The gasoline provides the ignition and the deisel sticks to the object long enough to combust it. One time out of stupidity we mixed something like 1 of gas to 3 of deisel, poured it over everything the pile. Tossed a match. BOOM.

I hate to think if we introduced a third item it will be truly a bomb.

When I hauled fuel 20 years ago,the stores had green caps on the diesel drop. But I could see a mixture of gas and diesel easily happening when loading product if the tank compartment wasn't completely empty before loading. We were taught to check with a bucket but everyone gets in a hurry. My dumb ### once pulled into a station , hooked up the hoses then stuck the tank which was already full, only to realize I was at the wrong Texaco station at 3 in the morning. Lucky for me no one was around as I put my hoses away and went a few miles further down the road.

You need to contact the store that you fueled up at immediately. Chances are it was a cross drop by whoever supplies their fuel. Happens all the time, and the repair bill will be on them. Some diesel drops have a smaller fill nipple and require a different attachment for the delivery guy to fill the tanks, but that's not usually the case. Gas into diesel, and diesel into gas cross drops happen all the time and are the most costly. Chances are if it was a cross drop, the delivery guy ran off without telling anyone and so the store would have no idea until they get massive amounts of complaints from upset customers who had their engines crap out on them. So if you call them and ask them about it they should have plenty of cases along with yours. Our company has had a few times where drivers cross dropped gas into diesel and ran off without telling anyone. All those angry customers get pretty happy when they get brand new cars courtesy of our company :rolleyes:

Now if you just happened to grab the wrong hose and dumped a bunch of gas into your tank without noticing .... welp :(:(

Usually for cross drops, the bill will be paid by the fuel carrier. If it was a pilot, then yea pilot will have to pay since they use their own private fleet to supply their fuel.

There is really very little to keep a careless driver from dropping gas into diesel or vice versa. Your suppose to double/triple check to make sure your hose is connected correctly to the same product. But like every job when you do the same thing day after day for years you get too relaxed sometimes. Having said that, usually the big truck stop chains only do straight gas loads or straight diesel loads for their drivers. So if it was a pilot, and that driver dumped a whole load of gas into the diesel tanks ..... welp o_Oo_O

Sadly, the cross drop mixture will get pumped out and then sold. It's possible that it will end up at some mom and pop truck stop at the next place you'd go to get fuel.

These are town pumps, they have a carrier that delivers the fuel.

Had a Werner driver put DEF in his fuel tank.Had he caught it right there at the truck stop he could have just had the tanks flushed out.But he drove it caused all kinds of problems. It was an expensive fix and he was down for days.If this is Pilots wrong doings then you need to contact them immediately. But if its your fault you may hear about it from your company.

Now that analogy is way too specific not to be the truth. Care to share more?

I think he was puking typing that .. that... tripe. He he..

None of my friends ever puked in my car, no matter how drunk they were when I carted them home. Baltimore County Police does know it... Had 4 of them on me at exactly 55 sniffing and counting the bodies snoring in there. All I could do was smile and wave hello. (Enforcement wolfpack, maryland style...) teach me not to go that way again at 2 am...

I paid a tip to a taxi driver in Seoul the equivalent of $100 because his rear window didn't roll down more than 3". We ALMOST made it back to my hotel. Never mix beer, wine, scotch, and sojou.

Saw a guy putting blue DEF on his windshield and trying to use a squeegee to get it clean. Just kept putting it on and making it worse. He thought the blue DEF was windshield fluid haha
