Gear Ratios: Misinformation at its worst.

    She bought it for her 15th b-day to get her license in. She ran the crap out of that car. By all rights it should have been totalled or scrapped. She went through 3 engines. It was funny because right around 78,000 on each one they’d give up. Finally she built a 400 from a ‘76 and 150,000 later it’s still doing good. Has well over 300,000 on it but actual mileage is a mystery because the odometer was broke for a few years. She will never let it go.

    I bought a ‘65 GTO rusted shell and blown 389 for $75 at 13 years old for first car. Took me till senior year to be road worthy. Lol!

    I hear ya on the 5.0 GT’s. They were the ride to have in the 80’s.

    The closer you get to a 1:1 ratio in a drive axle, the more efficient that gearing becomes.
