I drove one of those. I had a lot of trouble with that two-speed axle stuff in the beginning.
Yeah all two-speed axles had the red button that you pulled up and then pushed back down.
I don't remember I think the rule of thumb was shift the transmission first and then the axle?
Was that the rule or was the other way?

Yeah pull the knob from low to high then get off the pedal and it "should" float into high. Then you can pre-select low and it will go into low when you float to the next gear. The truck i was in was a relic and not in very good shape. Sometimes you'd get back on the pedal and the axle would be freewheeling or partially engaged and popping. It happened a lot more after I'd get a bunch of weight off the truck.
It's funny watching the speedometer jump up and down 15mph when switching between high and low.

Never had to reach though the steering wheel to shift one of those.

I heard talk about it from other guys, and in my usual stubborn bullheadedness I was determined to learn how to handle a 2-stick so as to make that not necessary.

I have ran old double over 13's with the horseshoe pattern. Currently running a 15 with the horseshoe pattern. Still own a 6x4 Spicer set up. Always start with your left hand.

It's only 6 stick movements for 10 gears.
