Now that we're heading into March (09), in your opinion, do you think that the amount of freight out there is picking up, about the same as it was in January, or decreasing? Thanks.

    rightLayne Thanks this.

Well to me it feels like its increased alil more then it was in jan but to me for instance its not the amount of loads thats killing me its the rate that they are paying for them which is really low

I lease to a company so I get paid by the mile. What I know is that my miles went down (a lot) and the loads got heavier (a lot), and I got to drive way too much on snow and ice. So I "parked it" on Jan 19th. I'm heading out on Monday and hoping that things have improved. Thanks for your input.

I've heard that things in the steel industry are supposed to pick up in March. But for some reason I doubt it.

i'm hopin for the best , jan-feb are traditionally slow and things pick up usually when the weather breaks and people come out of hibernation .
unemployment is about 7.5% nationwide but that still means 92 out of 100 are still working but many are scared and holding on to their money, plus the banks aren't lending like they were. hopefully with all the bankrupt trucking companys and oop's that are parked (close to 9% less trucks ) that there will be enough work for the rest of us still out there.

plus 5 or 6% unemployment is already considered to be full employment, so it's only a couple points higher than usual. Heck if you don't know 1 in 20 people that don't want to work if they can help it, you got unusual friends.
