I paid my $4700+ for a community college about 1 1/2 hr drive from my house. I could have gone to Roadmasters about 35-40 mins from the house but chose not to. College is 5 weeks and thats really not near enough and I get college credits in case I come to my senses and want to take something thats involved with trucking, like logistics. Also, a good many of the better carriers dont recognize some schools that are "driver mills" Look into the school you are going to attend. I am half way thru and stopped due to the weather, some family issues and the drive time to get there if the weather is bad. I continue mid March and hopefully finish up with my cdl 3-4 wks after that. I doubt that I will jump right into the job search for anything OTR right then. I want to do local to sharpen up my backing and intown driving skills before I take the plunge. Also, I'd like to see a little stronger economy before I go out there. But, everyone has to do what they have to do and I wish all of us good luck.
