Sounds like you have a problem comprehending what others are telling you. You think someone is gonna rent you a car and put you up in hotel just to come take a road test? Bahahaha.. I'm sure they would be willing to accommodate you for orientation once you passed a road test, but what if you failed? Sounds like you are used to the bottom feeder routine of hopping a bus and shipping out. Any job that is worth having will require effort and ambition. Sometimes you have to sacrifice to get where you wanna be in life... not everything is handed out on a silver platter! Then again, I'm sure Swift or C.R. England has a couple first class bus tickets with your name on them!

 

I dont know where all you guys have been, but Nowadays Companies bring you to them on there dime, usually on a bus. They put you in a hotel and most pay for your food as well. The driving test is considered part of Orientation so yes, he was right to expect them to pay for his travel and lodging. The fact that they wouldnt just means they are a cheap company and you shouldnt work for them anyways.
