Does George Hildebrandt inc have over the road NE regional?
-
The guys out of Hudson NY terminal mostly do nh, Maine to Maryland. And NY. A lot of them are home on weekends.
That's all I know.hazevision4 Thanks this. -
Hey thanks for the reply. I went in for interview the other day after talking with a recruiter named Wayne from NJ. Wayne told me over the phone the same thing you explained, Over the road regional home weekends. So I go to interview in person, took the road test and passed, Today March 7 i was supposed to go for drug and physical test, well i don't get a call from anyone over at the NH terminal today. i decided to call back Wayne at recruit number, he says sorry they picked another person for the position, he further explained that he was told there was 3 trucks available though in actuality there was none they where only looking for o/o. Now I have only worked for small companies in the past and have always talked with people in person especially during the hiring process, I always read about people traveling on gray hound buses hundreds of miles to be either lied to or mislead about the hiring process, guess I now know the feeling! How the hell doesn't a recruiter know if a companies hiring o/o or company drivers, and why the hell would someone at safety allow me to take road test with company truck knowing there not hiring a company driver? Unless they just didn't want to tell me man to man they aren't interested in me for what ever reason. I wasted a lot of time with this company filling out my application, waiting for background criminal, MVR , and personal references to check out. Moral to my story get Un gullible if you want to make it in this industry.

Where are you from? You went out to Jersey for the test or NH? Your story is kind of confusing. They payed for your bus to get back home or you did?
hazevision4 Thanks this. -
No, I did not have to travel to NJ. I live in southern Maine and the terminal is located in Portsmouth NH about fifty miles away from my home. I was just trying to insinuate that I now understand how those individuals feel that have posted horror stories about lying recruiters and their bait n switch tactics. No matter how many questions you ask a recruiter or do your homework on a prospective employer, if they are lying to us there is nothing we can do except waste our own time and money. Filling out application, researching company on this forum, spending gas money on travel to and from terminal etc. Please if you have any suggestions on how to get around lies or read in between the lines, on the phone or in person please fill me in.

At pretty much all trucking companies, big or small, the left hand doesn't know what the right and is doing. In other words, no one communicates what's going on between departments.

The day shall come when I don't have to talk with no recruiter or company personnel what so ever. Just give me a lil time an with gods grace ill have plenty of that on my side
-
they are pushing hard for more owner ops. less liability for them and they can reduce costs associated with benefits for employees. far as I am aware, they have a couple company positions available...but they are at the southern and western ends of where we go. the way they advertise can be confusing.
I don't want to ruffle any feathers....but they turn down people for real reasons generally. I had to push prettty hard to get aa job there, and it was and is worth it....but they look for any reason to shut people down before they hire.
I'm sorry you had a negative experience.
It's regional otr. some canada if you can. anywhere between maine, ohio and virginia allegedly...though I have yet to get south of Baltimore.
I'm certainly not a company cheerleader, they have treated me fairly thus far however. -
Yeah, like I posted before they are a bunch of misleading individuals from my experience. The guy named Wayne in the recruiters office is a lier and full of #### up to his neck. Why would they take time to approve a driver give him a road test, in which I passed and then not respond back with an approval or disapproval? I had to call the bait and switcher Wayne my self to have him explain. He thought that the location I applied to, was supposed to have 2 trucks shipped there for 2 new company driver's. Well, that never happened and that was his excuse for me not being hired what a sucker excuse, no moral backbone! Though It's ok cause every thing happens for a reason. Plus the 5 drivers that came in the office while i was waiting around, I could count on one hand the teeth they had remaining in there mouths combined. For looking around there, I could tell the company has no dress code standards cause all the drivers looked dirty, unhealthy and had no manners according my standards. Even if a company doesn't have dress standard at least look presentable so when you walk in a truck stop or just get out of your truck to check things out you look decent, which in turn gives the company a good look i'd think. I have nothing against the company, sometimes you have to get in where you fit in.
