Those are the rules... straight line back you get one get out and look and 1 free pull up the rest of the maneuvers you get two get outs and 2 free pull ups. Road test you can't get over 30pts. Hitting a curb or disobeying laws are automatic failure. If you have to wait 30 days and have to pay $300 dollars something is wrong. He can retest sooner. It's probably Katlaw screwing him on that. He should have been trained on all the rules of test from the school. Some Katlaw test in between,ga and there are no right turns to a small busy street. Examiners did there job so you shouldn't blame them. They get enough bs as is. Drive good and they'll pass you. If you can't pass the test then something is wrong. I'm sure you can. Encourage your son to take responsibility for his actions and don't teach him to blame others for his mistakes. People get nervous under pressure during testing and they make mistakes they normally wouldnt. Tell your son to keep his head up and don't give up. He will be trucking in no time at all. If he can use your truck take him out to Columbus to the third party examiner. Johnny or Michael. They are great guys. Different atmosphere out there. No dds building. It's next to the prison and animal shelter.7110 Sacerdote Lane, Columbus, GA

With all the difficulty getting a CDL license, and the difficulty of driving in all the cities and icy mountains, and heavy traffic, avoiding an accident and avoiding citations and avoiding everything and the low pay that we get I think that we would be safer and richer working at McDonald's. With all the risk we have to take and the driving at night without sleep we should be getting paid more money. The corporations are making ####loads of money, but the truck driver slaves still get the same low wages. I drove for eight years and I did pretty well , no accidents only one ticket. but finally I had to get out of it. I just felt like complaining

They just renovated a McDonalds here, total Staff of 2, all they do is assemble burgers and sandwiches, the rest is self serve. They laid off almost 20 when they automated, so much for the $15 an hour movement. It is the next wave, and if McD's can find a way to eliminate those 2 positions I am sure they would without thinking twice.

The low IQ burger flippers were warned that would happen. They actually believe they're worth $15.00 hr. to do menial tasks such as "Do you want fries with that?" or "Why do I have to clean the urinal tonight; I should be running this place because I almost finished the 10th grade!"
They can't even complete a job interview without sneaking a peek at their cell phone or asking stupid questions such as "Do you have a strong diversity program in place?" or "How much paid time off does this position offer?"

I have a big problem with Jackson Georgia CDL road testing site. I am a certified Dot inspector and master technician that has been in the Disel field for over 30 years. Already have a Cdl class B liscense. Ilnow the test inside out. However the examiner explain to me that I take al commands from her than she will tell when to go to the next step. I Listen to her. She told me to check the engine compartment and explain what you are checking. I point out all the components and what you a looking for. Inspecting worn, broken, grad belts and hoses to include suspension parts in full detail. I check all fluid levels and explain why. The inspector had predetermine she was not going to pass me., I answered all the requirements about that area I inspected. She said I did not explained the details of the comments being inspected. I say lady weren’t you listening to me as I explain the worn parts we are to explain. Hoses belts, leaks, suspension system etc... I said what is the problem I answered all the required information in great detail. She said she wanted more detailed information about each component. I explain again to her. She said you did not mention frad or worn parts etc... I said I just told you that. She said o yeah you did. So made a complaint to her supervisor.
She said did you tell about the components I said yes I did. What is going on here. It’d them I was and DOT inspector and technician. They O you are a mechanic. I said what does that have to with test. I am not testing to be mechanic. I am identifying the comments for testing, I told them they they wrong for the way you deal with people that know systems. Nobody was trying to put shine the examiner and the process . We just trying to take a test. I complain and will complain to a higher authority the way they failing people out the gate. I will take my test somewhere else. So I want be judge for race, knowledge, and self growth.

That may be true, it may be fluff, I have had some stellar students who failed on test day. Test day grown adults seem to lose their minds and make really bad mistakes..

Unimportant to you? The fact is that all of these tests are scored exactly the same. These standards are set and the examiners are trained to score these maneuvers and skills so they themselves do not lose their certifications. Drivers are scored from the first moment in the truck until they complete the skills evals. Only in extreme cases do the stop a test in process, even if the driver fails on the first scored item.

There is a set number allowable for drivers to get out and look. This is not the greatest way to TRAIN people, but examiners do not train drivers, they evaluate them and score their skills. The courses are set up and approved by the states. There are at least two courses, but sometimes there may be more. Most of the time the examiners use the same course all the time, unless the driver has been failed before, if its failure #3, the driver could be set on either course. All the drivers have to take these routes pass or fail.

That mistake alone could very well fail a driver instantly.. there are many left and right turns on these routes.. there are usually 4 graded left and 4 graded right turns, if the error happens on an ungraded turn, they could be failed depending on the circumstances.. if they screw up a turn that is graded, the examiner has no option but to fail the driver.

Sounds like this was a remedial class of people who have not done well previously,, the worst part of this is that for a safety violation, the driver can return the next day.. if they fail on points they usually have to wait something like 30 days. This is bad for new drivers as their skills tend to fall off really quickly and they lose a lot of the skills they had by the time they return to retake the test.

Honestly? Very few drivers who have been driving over a couple of years could not pass the skills tests. Most of the instructors that we had, had to be trained up for quite a while before they could pass a skills evaluation. I wish your relative luck, he needs to really work on not stressing out and beating the hell out of himself. He has to stay looking forward and not backwards as the skills test goes on.. if a driver stresses out over a minor mistake, they need to leave that mistake back there... fixating on a mistake instead of the maneuvers ahead will cause the drivers to screw up many times..

He parameters for failing the test are clear. A third GOAL on a maneuver is a fail. Hitting the curb on the road test is a fail. The examiner is making sure your son knows where the end of the truck is at.

We have all struck a curb. If he were making a turn where it was impossible to make the turn without striking the curb, then he simply, announces his intentions to make a controlled maneuver, using the curb. But the tester is going down a route he/she is familiar with. The chances of that are rare.

During my CDL road test, a state trooper pulled someone over in the exit ramp. I stated, out loud that I was going to use the gore to make the curve, to keep my trailer wheels from off tracking too close to the patrol car. I didn’t fail. The examiner said that I handled it correctly.

My first test, I did fail. I wrote a thread on it.

It’s Not as big as you think it is
