Sign said overnight parking prohibited, I assume people stay overnight anyways, I had no choice as I had a swollen hand, and didn't feel safe to drive.
But is that the way it is or was it just the welcome center? Are other states rest area's also like this, when it comes to trying to get in a 10 hour reset?

Is it because of hurricane?

No it was a legitimate sign, might of only applied to the welcome center, odd though because they had 50 spots available.
SHOJim Thanks this. -
I think all the rest areas say that, everyone ignores it
DTP and CrappieJunkie Thank this. -
It's only a handful of states. Inconsiderate truck drivers ruin it for others by peeing on the ground and dumping garbage on the floor so they only make those rest stops just for a mandatory break or the 2 hr split sleeper. Some states are more considerate than others you'll just have to drive around to get a feel.

If people wouldn't pour out gallons of their urine in every paved lot possible, maybe we could have nice things..
Swedish Chef, mitrucker, ChaoSS and 2 others Thank this. -
Used to be a trooper working I-81 in Virginia who would chalk mark the tires on trucks in the rest areas. If he made another pass 2 hours later you got woke up and a ticket. Been so long ago he should be retired by now.

Ive stayed there before. There isn't a state welcome center I haven't stayed the night come to think of it.

Some do some don't.Illinois rest areas want the drivers to take there brake if they need to.Here in Iowa we don't have any prohibited signs posted.Even though you sees sign like that at restareas I think most states don't enforce it.

Those signs are completely ignored.
