We were allowed to float on the Ohio test. But the tester said if you grind 1 time floating it's a fail.

if you are thinking about driving a truck for a living. The first step is what ever you need, to get to where you want to be. In today's world I would go to school I have thirty five years driving and made a lot of mistakes. Actually spent more time starting over from job to job to ever make any real money. I learned most of my bad habits from drivers who I thought that the way they did things was good for me. Go to school get this piece of paper and keep it for future proof of knowledge. Most important don't spend the money to go to school and then quit before you put all you have into this career. If something isn't working for you let someone know and make the choice as to why you started driving a truck in the first place

Back in the mid-90s when I took my test, I already knew how to drive and went to a "3rd party tester". I won't say what all happened with that test, but the guy got busted a few years later for not administering the test right. When that happened, the DOT even called me and questioned me about my test, of course I told them he was buy the book as far as I could tell. I was afraid they may revoke my license if I told them any different.
