I prefer to find those that are not facing any other trucks. I.e. you are facing the exit or the fuel pumps etc. I also like to try to find either a corner spot or the last in the row where I have a curb, fence, barricade, etc on at least one side of the truck. Spots further from the actual building are preferred by me as well. Usually they stay open later in the night and I like the convencience of having grass close (for emptying bottles) and the trash cans located nearby. Only downside to the back 40 or the "party row" is that it tends to attract more panhandlers and other door knockers.

LOL, if you need to use goal to see your sight side you have issues. Yeah, using goal to check your blind side is always a good idea, but this had nothing to do with not getting out, it is just sheer careless stupidity. The guy obviously wasn't even looking.

Rule #1.. if you EVER lose the location by sight and even mentally of ANY of the corners of your truck.. STOP! and KNOW where they are before proceeding ONE inch! There are 8 corners on a tractor trailer that can reach out and touch things depending on how out of whack you are.. I had one of the worst vertigo attacks from doing that one snowy morning in a truckstop in WI. I parked for the night and during the night the lot filled to over capacity... I went to leave in the AM (dark still) and as I went to pull out of the space the snow and the dark just made it too hard to see the trailer and the hood of the truck on my right as I was turning out. I got out. .walked around the front of the truck to look down the side of the trailer and saw that I had plenty of room.. got back in and just as I was about to move forward.. the truck in front of me (parked perpendicular to the row I was in) started to pull forward.. in my mind it registered as ME moving backwards... I KNOW that the airbrakes can take a pounding because I hit the brakes so hard I about knocked a hole in the floor!!!

Whether it's a reportable or not has NOTHING to do with DAC>when will you people ever get it right? Yes, it may show up on a driver's PSP report but if I'm the guy that got hit a couple of pictures will prove my innocense.

What laws? DAC is privately run and the only reports are from a company. Go to Hireright.com and self educate.:)

It takes a DOT qualified leo and an inspection report to make your PSP. If the law is called it is usually a local cop and only an accident report is filled out if that. Some localities might even refuse to write a report on private property.

GOAL is for what you can't see and is just part of the job. Shame? I think there is more shame not looking. Only a fool guesses. It's obvious he didn't even bother looking out the window or he would of prevented that. For you beginners you always maximize your exit by turning at the very last second. You have to remember there is a trailer is back there at all times.

Once you learn you'll be surprised what you can do with that big ol' trailer. Smaller trailers are harder to back because the shorter wheel base and quicker reactions. A 53 footer is kind of forgiving if you take your time. You'll be able to back on a dime before it's over with. Everyone has their moments. Usually being tired is when drivers mess up. GOAL and you can't mess up.
