The post that gets me is the ones where someone says that if you do your job, don't complain and run your loads, the company will give you more miles. I have seen just the opposite, guys that ##### about not getting miles to dispatcher always seem to get more miles. Why?

The answer is that the squeeky wheel always gets the oil. We are "JUST A NUMBER", the company only cares about one thing, keeping a warm but in the seat of the truck you are in. It does not matter if it is you or someone else.

You are not special just cause you been with them 10 years, they only know that because the computer tells them that. You are not special because you moved trailers for your DM, after it is done, no one will remember. You are not special just because you are a trainer, you are just someone that helps them keep warm butts in the seats.

I hold every moment, They can't have it. I'm a Driver. Took a lot to make that happen. I know what to do in any situation. I learn every day. I ride 40 tons down the road, I make the big boys respect me. I do heavy haul. I go slow, but I'm constant. Nerve, a steady hand, and support. Never think your too good, It bites you. Always ask. I don't know everything. Help ME! Never pulled this before. It's top heavy. 4 mph corners. 2 mph corners, move stop lights, 290 tons. Big paycheck, 4 Depends. LOL

My company has drivers that's been there 20 yrs, they're not making much more then when they first started. They're treated the same as someone that just started the company.I was with 3 companies that my dispatcher said I was their favorite driver but that didn't give me any extra miles otherwise id still be at one of them.

I will die before I let the rascals take my way of life from me. I battle the Cops all the time. They were bummed when auto slacks were invented. They will play Hell taking this Forum over.

I would go for "drivers" wearing sweat pants myself. They just look silly. I suspect their accountants in drag.

ROFL!! :biggrin_2559: take over = force them out. That is like saying "Hey I didn't kill him, he just died when I shot him!" You are in the right industry man.

BTW to add to my original topic, that is how companies feel about us, but I feel that we work hard and deserve a lot more respect the same way people respect other hard workers in other needed professions. If there was a music video or fad that all truckers are cool, all people would love us then since TV is what controls the culture. I am happy to be a trucker but understand that others consider us to just be throwaways.

You're right. I only do favors for the dispatcher if it puts money in my pocket, so it's really not a favor. I've seen the way that works. Help me out, take this trailer over to so-and-so and swap it out, only will take a couple of hours. Then while you're gone they dispatch a 2000 mile load to some kiss-up driver & when you find out about it, they say, well you weren't here and it was a hot load. I always ask if this "favor" will put me out of the loop for a good load? Many times, then it's "oh, wait, there is something here, I'll get someone else to run that trailer over to so-and-so', or "oh, wait, get that done and I'll hold this 2000 mile run for you; it will be here when you return; I'm glad you reminded me."

I like trk driving otherwise I wouldn't be doing it.But its crystal clear some consider this a demeaning profession.Just ask the ones that hate us or doesn't know what respect means.
