Hey guys, I'm new here and been driving trucks for many years but just got my CDL a year ago and still getting a feel for driving standard. I drive eight speed 1994 International and a 2003 six speed Frightliner and I know the clutch in all trucks are different but we just got the International adjusted and I think I finally have the feel for it right. I noticed if I ease off the clutch almost all the way out I slip rite into first with little or no gas with a heavy load. Is this about normal in most trucks or just because its freshly adjusted?

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but truck clutches engage/disengage nearer the top of the pedal travel compared to 4-wheelers. IIRC, it's supposed to happen in the vicinity of 3.5 inches from the top.

This statement makes no sense. Very confusing.
Are you talking about at a dead stop? If so, why would you even be touching the fuel pedal to slip it in gear? BTW, it's not a "gas" pedal.
And you say you've been driving trucks for many years?

Are you talking about down shifting?
