All companies want to know of any drugs you are taking because many have side effects that affect driving. For the ones that COULD---but don't always---have a negative effect, you'll need a doctor's note on letterhead saying that those med(s) are OK in your case if that's true. If they do mess you up, you shouldn't be driving, of course.
Disclosing the drugs---they'll want to know them by name---will tip HR to your medical history, so it's either come clean completely or try to hide both the drugs and the history. The latter probably sounds tempting, but I can think of several ways you could land in very deep legal water down the road by doing it.05fcpbrute Thanks this. -
what type of trouble are you talking? other then getting fired?

having a wreck and killing someone.....if that happens you can bet your arse some ambulance chaser will surface this info and your done for in my opinion...your fault my fault nobodys fault it makes no difference....but i will say if my livlihood was on the line i would straight up lie.....maybe not lie but omit this info lol

well the meds that im on does not affect my abilty to drive in any way shape of form.My doctor told me that the reason these companys dont want to hire someone with past medical history ist because they dont think they can do the job,its because it will make there insurance premiem go up.Both medical and workers comp. so what do i do guys? my father, brother, and grandfather all drive trucks and i wont to also. i mean i know guys that shoot insalent on a daily basices, and they been doing it for years, how do you think they get away with it?thanks for the replys.

You know the best thing about your situation? You won't be able to get suckered by these mega-companies because the won't hire you! Consider this a blessing. Now, you are really going to have to do your homework, but it will pay off in the long run. Find yourself a good mom and pop company or even an owner operator willing to take you on and show you the ropes. Whatever you do make sure you are upfront and honest about everything. This is very important in trucking and if you do not heed this advice, trust me it will come back to haunt you. Welcome to the forum and good luck in the job search.

yea but the thing is that mom and pop companies will not hire students. i just dont know what t do.

whether or not cancerous, sends up red flags for potential huge dollars to be spent on operations and recovery. i'm glad for you that the tumor was removed by the way..........but this can be considered "pre-existing" medical condition which will shoot the medical premiums through the roof of the trucking company......
you got different roads now to handle this..........
1)... KEEP QUIET about your operation..........!!!!! if there is a big scar there, then a doctor doing a DOT physical may ask you about it. now i just did a very quick search for pituitary gland for its location..........it looks like to me, there would be NO scars.......
will you list your meds for us so we can do a search for the DOT prohibited drugs.........??
2)....DO NOT MENTION medications you are on..........if they DO NOT fall under the DOT guidelines.
as mentioned, you can try a smaller trucking outfit. this could/would be your best bet............
now, about that "someone" you know that takes insulin.........?? are you really sure about that..........?? there are medical waivers for insulin, but i think too that will come to an end soon, but right now, i cannot swear to that.

I know what you are going through. I myself had a hastric bypass, and later that year I received my CDL and I had applied to many companies. I got refused by all of them except for Werner. Now as bad as they have been clamed to be, yes. But, I still have no regrets. It taught me things that working for a good company would'nt. SO thats a good thing. Make sure you get letters from your Dr. If you have to get a hold of the DOT offials who deal with things like this and see if they can provide a letter saying that the medical condition you have will not affect your driving. But ultimately it's your determination. If you really want it that bad you will find a way to acheive your goal. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Where can you find the list for acceptable meds. ? I've done a search and can't seem to locate any list. I'm particularly looking to see if Lisinopril is acceptable. It's for BP, only taking 5 milligrams.
TIA
will you list your meds for us so we can do a search for the DOT prohibited drugs.........??
