I cant seem to get a head of it. I take a 34hr reset on my 8th day ...how do I get to use just recaps on my follow 8th day when dont have any hours to run from the 8th day prior due to the reset. I know its confusing but im losing valuable time and maybe my job if I can't figure it out.
Getting ahead of 34hr reset, help me figure this out.

If you do a reset, you start your 70 hours all over again and recaps do not apply. If you didn't do a reset, and you are running recaps if you are out of hours on the seventh day, and do not have any hours coming back at midnite, then you can't drive until you start getting hours back or get a 34 in.drvrtech77, Rogerthat, Rideandrepair and 2 others Thank this.

Ok midnight tonight I get full 70 on my 8th day I won't have any hours. So I have to do another 34hrs? How do I get a head of that to just run recaps?
Rideandrepair and truckdriver31 Thank this. -
Not being a wise ##*, just don’t work more than 8.75 hrs a day and you will never run out of hours.70/8 = 8.75. Prior to the 34 restart provision I knew several people that ran like that.

Think of it this way you can only work 70 hours in 8 days. On the 8th day the first drops off so however long you worked the first day you can now work.drvrtech77, Rideandrepair, slow.rider and 3 others Thank this.

Exactly when I was with a mega I’d work 8 hours a day but it was hell on my sleeping schedule with only a 10hr break.Rideandrepair, truckdriver31 and LTL Bull Thank this.

I’ll add doesn’t mean it HAS to be 8.75 each day. Obviously if you work 7.75 day one you could do 9.75 day two and so on

That is one nice thing about these HOS rules, my sleep is more regular though I did like running 5 on 5 off under the old 10/15 days splitting the sleeper.Rideandrepair, slow.rider, truckdriver31 and 1 other person Thank this.

Let’s say you have a reset by Monday morning You have a full 70 Monday. Work all week. You would have about 10 hours a day until Sunday. By Monday again you would only have any of the 70 hours not used in those 7 days (Monday-Sunday). Perhaps you had one slow day you may have 3-5 hours on Monday to work.
But Tuesday morning you would pick up any hours you worked the previous Monday. And it will add to any you may have left from your 70 in those 8 days if any
And every day you add the hours from then onRideandrepair, slow.rider and truckdriver31 Thank this. -
I never understood the hang up with running out of hours. You can only work 70 hours, that is the law and nothing you can do about it. If you are logging correctly and by that I mean not logging time waiting at the dock as on-duty, then you should be extremely happy if you are getting enough miles to run out your clock.
I enjoyed my 34 hour breaks, meant I made as much money as I could and now I got to read, play games, go see whichever city I was in etc. I've been to baseball games in Cinci, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Kansas City and St. Louis all on my 34. I toured San Francisco once. Saw the Grand Canyon, got drunk and watched a Curling event in Canada with some good old Canadian boys. Even went deep sea fishing once. 34 hour resets are a huge benefit to this industry.
Why work exactly 8.75 hours a day when you make the same money regardless? Work hard and then play a bit, have fun, experience the country. My 2 cents anyway. You do you.Hawkeye212, MadScientist, Patriot_Bearing_Supply and 16 others Thank this.
