I plan on filing for my own authority by the end of this month, I've been leased on to a carrier for over 8 years running for 77%, their trailer, their loads. I'm quite comfortable there, good people to deal with, steady loads, like the lanes I run and get home for a couple of hours almost every day. That being said I can run for them at 90%( their trailer still) with my own authority which I plan to do for a while till I build up a little more cash reserve. My question is how bad will my phone blow up after I file for authority, I've got a land line that we don't use anymore cause all the calls were just telemarketers, was going to use that number for filing and just hook an answering machine to it and also use an different email account from what I use now, and also is it worth having a fax machine any more or is emailing contract packets the easiest

When I registered I got an extra # for my cell phone through Talkatone. You can turn it off so it doesn't ring and all calls will go to voicemail.
I'm glad I did because I got what seemed like a hundred calls and texts. You will get another rush of calls every time it's time to renew.
Also, if you have not already, join OOIDA. They are a wealth of knowledge and will help filing some of the required documents and have a program for the required random drug monitoring.
I don't have a fax machine so I just scan and email.

48 callers in the first two days with the first being within 30 seconds of dot # posting. About 8-10 texts only three emails. If your on the west coast I wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t get some calls at 5am

ok that's kinda what I was thinking,I get enough robo calls and such on my cell now didn't really want to make it worse, thanks. I'm already an OOIDA member, all for the organization but I can file my own stuff a lot cheaper than what they charge

The phone calls are worst for the first few weeks then they're less annoying. The will always continue to some degree, though. Tire salesman, insurance agents, factoring solicitors...you have to live with them calling you once every week or so...What else can you do?

I've got an app on my phone with phone number that I never pick up and providing it anywhere public where I don't expect calls/texts.
Some of cheap brokers start bagging you as well while you open their posting on some Loadboards.
