I got fired from the company I was driving for back in January. I had a breakdown and they wanted me to go to Dallas(I was in GA at home) to pick up a new truck, the boss thought I was playing games so I was then promptly fired. I actually called him back and explained my situation more. He just said its nothing personal its business. I agree I would of fired myself too.

Anyway I'm ready to get back in(yes I been out of work since Jan, it was a pretty bad breakdown) preferably not OTR but if I must I guess I would. I have 1 year and quarter as a solo driver with that company. Otr, reefers. And the rest of my experience is just years of class C jobs. I live in metro ATL. Any advice or suggestions on what jobs I can get?

oh...you had some sort of mental break down..??

some employers may require medical proof you're much better now, it's business too.

I purposely left out the word "mental" because I really don't think it was a true mental breakdown. Just overwhelming stress and anxiety that I felt it was better not to work till I calmed way down. Took several mos to get here but a lot of that was due to lack of motivation and procrastination.

your boss may be forbidden to say anything about your breakdown, but you have to explain yourself to a new employer, or on applications.

then again, some employers do not give a crap, and may very well speak pout when called....it's a crap shoot, and YOU have to have proof, something was said about you.

So you got over stressed and filled with anxiety. It happens, and sounds like your better and ready to move forward.

My advice. Don't mention anything to new employer except you wanted more time off than your employer wanted to give at the time.

Apply at anywhere you want to work, and just keep applying. Once you have a job, it will be easier to get a better one. Just keep working your way up.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I'm trying to get with companies like Averitt, Old Dominion, Estes, food service companies(don't mind unloading, keeps me in shape), etc. With my 1 year and quarter experience, am I hirable to those companies?

Just apply everywhere and tell everyone your the best there is. Ltl carries are a great place to start. Always nice to get home often running local or regional.

You keep mentioning this "year and a quarter" experience, but you've been out of a truck for 9 straight months now?... some companies may see you as a noob and require some refresher training, so expect that...

Some ltl s have dock to driver or apprentice programs, check out fxf, upsf, Holland and con wa - oops, I mean XPO logistics

Anxiety and depression can be debilitating. You better make sure that you are over it, or companies will end up being revolving doors.

A lot of retired military suffer from it. They went from being important, to just another working stiff.
