I would like some honest opinions about whether or not I should even try to get back into trucking, maybe it is not possible.
Was fired by JB Hunt 2 years ago because the tandems came out of the back. It was an old rust bucket of a trailer that I should not have hauled. I did a tug test. Made a mistake. Was not cited by police, perfectly clean license. No damage to property or people. Worked there 2 years and was told I was a top driver. Had 4 years experience total. I have another job, but wonder if I could ever get back into the field. My question is:
How long before a company would agree to hire me again, if ever? Are these things ever "forgiven". Seems a bit unfair, as all the good I did didn't seem to matter. I have just assumed that I will never be a truck driver again. Is this a correct assumption? Thanks.

check and see if Hunt put something in your DAC report.
if so, it might be too late to appeal it. -
screw dac...theres a lot of companies that dont run dac
-
So how do you know which co's use dac and which don't? Apply and find out?

The problem will not be the mistake. IF that is your only mistake and you are telling us the whole truth it won't be your problem. Your problem will be that you haven't driven in the last 24 months. Most companies want some driving time in the last 6 mos you have none. You will be competing with drivers who have more/less experience then you who have driven in the last year much less the last 6 months for the same job. The longer the time the less the chance. If you want back in you had better get with it and realize that you will be turned down allot and that if some one is willing to take you on you may have to take some re-training.
MoneyCat Thanks this.
