Decatur! That's it! I couldn't remember it. When I was running those chassis, Decatur runs were a bit of an oddity... most of the Fleetwood loads went to Paxinos, PA, although they might have shut that one down by now.. I'm not sure. Most of my Indiana loads went to Utilimaster in Wakarusa. Little diner just down the road from Utilimaster with truck parking, that I'd often park at the night before... breakfast there wasn't half bad, either. There were a couple different ways to get there.. I remember running 74 to Indy, then US31 north, I remember trying out... I wanna say I75 to US20 to get there, and there was way which took more backroads (at least I think it was enroute to Wakarusa), where I'd pass by a little ice cream place... the lot was big enough to park a truck in... and, you know, ice cream.... but I couldn't tell you exactly where it was. Been a long time.
AK steel could be a bit of a crap shoot, but I don't recall any experiences there being too terrible for me. The one I really hated was ISG in Lackawana, NY. I think I/N Tek/Kote was my favorite, when loading out of the Tek side. The one in Nanticoke, Ontario (don't remember the name) was pretty good, also.

I think I know the ice cream shop you are talking about. It sits in the Y at a Y intersection, yes? Large parking area in the rear with front darn near on the highway.

Back in Sturgis, waiting for the crane party tomorrow morning. Then off to Burns Harbor to get my load returning me to SC and do it all over again. I love this run. I have yet to get bored and have my stops pretty well mapped out. Every now and then I will go somewhere else, either Decatur or Wakarusa, but those have been rare. I have to say that as a Swift newbie at the bottom of the pay scale that I would make more money OTR but with my situation this has worked perfectly for me. So far I have averaged sleepin in my bed at home and seeing my family at least a day or two a week. But I live pretty much at one end of the route so this plays a big factor. Swift has been truthful to me the whole time and my DM has been very helpful and picks up the phone the few times that I have called.

Forgot to add that I tried a new spot for my ten the other day. Due to some traffic jams in Cincinatti and Dayton I could not make it to my usual parking spot. I was planning on stopping at the rest area on US 33 a few miles west of I75 in Ohio. However, for the first time I noticed a road to my right with a sign pointing to a T/A that I knew was off exit 111 (1 exit up). I decided to take a chance and honestly, my stomach made the decision for me. I was tired of sandwiches and wanted a sit down meal. So I pull up and see this small older truckstop. They claim to be the first truck stop built after Eisenhower signed the Interstate Road System Act. Built in 1956 or something and the restaurant was called The Hub or close to that, cannot recall but the food was outstanding!! Will definitely go there again.

Made a purchase today that I wish I had done weeks ago. Picked up a one burner butane stove from walmart. Cooked sausage and eggs for dinner tonight watching some deer in a cornfield on the Indiana/Ohio border. Such an awesome evening.
Lepton1 Thanks this.
