CUPE gravel truck, snow plow, salt spreader, deck paid like 33 per hour. Operator II/III it was called. Double OT pay after 40 and triple on holidays. Toxic work culture though, everyone gunning for your job.

that’s seems to be how the construction industry is in a nut shell everyone’s yelling at each other and no real respect.1 big reason i sold my dump truck got tired of being treated like a pos and never knowing when your day will end atleast with hauling Asphalt.Ipac is the worst company to work for a bunch of di$kheads over there.I never had any real problems with Fermar just don’t get caught backing up with out a flag man or you will get kicked off the job

Not sure how anybody could live in the GTA, or want to, for $23 an hr.

I can get that or more driving a dump truck in Halifax, and wouldnt do that. As far as 7 days a week, and a day off every 2 weeks, not going to happen, that will grind you to death.

I'd look for a regional job, mi day to friday, working for a company delivering their own products. Night or 2 a week in the sleeper for a change, home weekends.
    Thats the ticket.

Another Canadian driver and Gsm Thank this.

I was threatened with a fine for not wearing safety glasses. And yes the yelling is real, the old dogs get really pissy when they can't get their own ways.

the company my dads friend owns who we worked for hired a new driver ,his first load on a Fermar job site he was kicked off of because he backed up with out a flag man .I was told what ever you do don’t back up without a flag man we just sent the other guy home .I lasted 3 months owning my own dump truck and only making $71 a hr and dealing with ######## all day .Not worth it in my opinion

I went and labored by one of my buddies (Electrician) couple weeks back, when I was trying to decide what to do after quitting driving. Everyone in construction are 1000X's more psycho/on drugs than I remember when I got laid off in 2016. How anyone can deal with that level of constant screaming/shouting, swearing, talking ####, throwing things, freaking out, I don't even know. I mean, none of it was even directed at me (my buddy is an awesome dude, one man show with a van) but it wasn't fun at all, downright stressful. This was a PCL commercial site, just crazy.

I personally think that’s how the construction industry has always been .My big mouthed ltailan father fits right in with the other guys who work for paving/construction companies and he’s been in construction for 30 plus years .
