Is getting endorsements, TWIC, Passport, something a company will help you get say during orientation or is it something you would have to do on your free time generally? I am starting with Stevens BTW to be more specific.

It's going to depend on Stevens requirements. Getting a passport is your responsibility. Nothing to do with a trucking co. But of course you will need one if you go into Canada.
Be careful with a TWIC unless the co will fully fund the Cost of one. I've used my TWIC maybe 3 times in over a year and I haul chemicals. So far a big waste of time and $$ for me, but YMMV.
other endorsements to get would be hazmat which probably is the most common. -
You out want to get the endorsements at the same time you get your permit, look at the top of this page and you will see you practice test, do yourself a favor and study all of them now..... Because it is easier to get your endorsements now, then coming back and doing it later. Twic: is something you get on your own also ....Good luck -

Tanker, haz-mat, doubles

Stevens will reimburse you for hazmat and passport. You pay up front and then give them the receipt to get reimbursed. They wont pay you back for tanker or dub/trip because they don't use those in their operation. You will have to get them when you are on home time because, I'm assuming, you have an OK liscence. They can give you specific details at orientation.
