I got my class A permit and dot card . Anyone know of a company or o/o that will give me the driving training I would need to pass. I don't have the means to quit my job and go to another state . I live by shreveport louisiana . But I'm thinking my only option is to wait and see if my tax return will be enuff for food and just get on with a company. Like swift

we'll if you went with a company like Prime or Swift and other's that run a school that they pay for and give you a trainee wage while training will probably be your only option most companies won't hire a driver without a certified graduation from a trucking school or experience so even if you get you cdl a but noe experience it will be hard to find employment. Good Luck

Most of your mega carriers are going want you to go to a trucking school but you can go threw a trucking company own school like Swift,I think Prime Inc has there own school also.Just make sure you ask questions I think you need to pay a down payment but i'm not sure.

No down payment for Prime. If you have your CDL already, they call you a 'C-seat' driver. You will have to go through three days of orientation, then off with a trainer for 2-3 months. I'm set to do this Wednesday for flatbed trucking.

@Boss dude if you're a hardworker and like to think things through and figure stuff out your gonna love flatbed! Also did prime take you straight into flatbed with out any box experience?
-
@Fuzzy - I just did the same thing. Went and got my permit and DOT card and got lucky to find a small local company to give me a job as a trainee to get the rest of the training. they are out there
RickG Thanks this. -
Yes they are 'supposed' to take me without any box experience. I have no OTR experience except for my trucking school. If you can make it through the orientation process, its straight to a 2-3 month training. I'm sure I can make it, this is my last chance to do it before I'll have to go back to school for a refresher. I got my CDL in October, so they give you three months to get a job. The reason why Prime is going to take me if I get through the orientation is due to their lengthy training period. If you can't get the hang of flatbedding within 3 months with a trainer, trucking isn't for you.
