    Hello,
I checked the state website and it's not real clear if I need one for the permit, or just for the actual CDL. I did some more searching on google, but am still having trouble finding a straight answer.

I just started some new BP medication, so ideally I could wait a few weeks before getting an exam, but I was hoping I could get my permit within the next week or two.

Thanks, somehow I missed the link for that page. Seems like I looked everywhere else on the site lol...

I'll probably go ahead and get it this week. My BP is borderline, but worst case I'll only get the one year license.

Your BP has to be under 140/90 Otherwise you do not qualify to have a DOT medical. IF you are given a 3 month card, that is a EXPLICIT warning to solve the BP problem permanently within 90 days.

Things have changed over the years. Keep track of your DOT medical being valid to go with the CDL. If you do not have a valid DOT Medical, they will downgrade your CDL. (If you have not gone Tier Two or other than Tier One)

So they recently changed? I thought it was 2 years if under 140/90, 1 year if over 140/90 and if 160/100 or higher it's only good for three months?

Right now mine hovers at around 140/90, usually just a little lower...but sometimes it can be a little higher than that.

The three month thought is a overall situation where you will have that long to fix whatever it is that caused it to be 3 months. You might not get anymore if it's not fixed.

If you can get under 140/90 then all is well. You should get a 2 year.

Just be ready also to have a orientation ignore it as well and send you to their company doctor for yet another DOT exam.

One year card if you're on BP meds.
Two year card if you don't tell you're on BP meds.
