Better anyway to get your b/p under control. Med card or not.

Yeah I know...I just don't like taking meds when it's like 141/91 and I could just lose a little weight and cut down on sodium.
With that said it tends to fluctuate and I don't always stick with my diet, so maybe I should just stay on meds until it starts dipping down too low.

You know, I was originally concerned about my health and trucking, but maybe trucking will just force me to remain healthy.

My BP seems pretty low today right after starting my new meds. I think I may go ahead and get it done.
Prices seem to range from 60-130 dollars for a more well known clinic. Is there any advantage in going with the more popular clinic instead of the 60 dollar place? Higher chance a potential employer may recognize the more popular place and not require a retest, maybe?

I would stay away from places like Concentra. I have heard CVS pharmacy's exams are ok.

Concentra was the "more expensive" place I was thinking of lol...I guess I liked the fact I could walk in any time, so I know my BP is low right before I go in, or could just simply not go if it's high.
The 60 dollar places are mainly no name places that have odd hours and require an appt. I guess there's a false economy in that price, because I'd have to miss more work hours due to their inconvenient hours of operation.
CVS is the most expensive out of all of them I've seen.
CVS is 134, concentra is 84, and some no names are 60.

At first glance, concentra seemed like the best option. Why do you advise against them?

I keep hearing about Concentra trying to force sleep studies on people. And they usually have a crowded waiting room and sure don't get in any hurry. You can look for docs here: D.O.T. Doc

If you're getting the exam for cdl school, go to a cheap place. No reason to waste money for the same results.

Yeah ^^^^ correct answer. A medical exam is a medical exam is a medical exam. FYI , don't tell anyone, but BP meds don't show up on a drug test. So, take your meds, your BP is now normal, you get a 2 yr card. VS. telling the doc about your bp meds and only getting a one yr card which will always be a one yr card from then on. Concentra is an urgent care center so you will have to take a # and be shuffled around from pee-pee test to doc to waiting for Jr to get his broken arm set etc etc etc

Thanks so much for the advice so far everyone! My BP tested normal all day and then as soon as I got into the car to go up there, I could feel it getting high. I tested it a few times and sure enough, about half the tests were either above 140 or 90. I went in and started the paperwork and could feel it getting worse, so I walked out to the car and it tested just above a few times again. Decided to walk back in and tell them I had an emergency and need to come back tomorrow. Luckily they let me. I just filled an old RX for some “take as needed” second med that I never got filled. I took that along with a double dose of my normal one. Also got some beet juice and bananas. I notice it’s lower in the mornings before coffee, so I scheduled for 8am.
    Wish me luck!
