    Hello truckers!
well.. im looking to get my endorsements, HazMat, doubles/tripes/tanker

but i dont wanna have to go to school for it. :biggrin_2556:

do you know of any reference materiel I could study?
I googled a few sites, but they were so small and vague, only sample test, no reading materiel.

I would like little of both.

    Thanks in advanced!

Why don't you go to your local DMV office and get a manual? Then you can study that and then take practice tests online.

I would say just go down to your local DMV and ask them for the CDL book, then read the HazMat, doubles/triples, and tanker portions, then when you're done reading them, read them again! :D In WY, the book has 'test' questions at the end of each section. If you can't answer ALL of the questions, read that section twice more before re-taking the 'test'. Then just go to your DMV and ask to take the tests.

To get your HazMat endorsement, you are going to have to go through the background screening (can't think of the website right off hand, but I'll look it up and post it later, unless someone else knows it off the top of their head). That costs about 80 or 90 bucks. At the same time you register for the screening, you'll have to find the nearest TSA office near you to go get your fingerprints taken. Then you wait about 3 weeks to get your approval letter in the mail, at which time you can go back to the DMV and get the HazMat endorsement put on your license.

(Note: Take the HazMat test at your DMV BEFORE you register and pay for the background check!)

I got the manual from the DMV for $5.00. I studied on my own, and took and passed tank & double/trips. I also took the practice tests here, and on truckingtruth.com to make sure I did okay before I took the test at theDMV. Still working on hazmat.

I was able to download the necessary references from the State of Michigan website (obviously I took it in Michigan). I was also given a copy of the CDL manual at school (or get it from the Secretary of State's office).

For the HAZMAT endorsement, you need to get the background check from the TSA/HSA. This starts from www.hazprints.com , then you will need to get your fingerprints done locally.
