Hey all,
I've been looking around in MA at schools, Parker was my best fit, I am unemployed and don't have the money for the program. They suggested MA DUA (unemployment) could possibly fund it. Tried, request denied. ####!
So now I'm stuck, and I still have that desire to learn too! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Are there grants or anything like that?
(I'd go for my Class B--I know A is the optimal choice, but I will need some straight truck time before I attempt trailer training...that's just the way I am haha)
Thanks in advance!
Getting my MA CDL, need a little help...

you will need to pay for the road test again........
so there really isn't any actual benefit to getting the B, unless you HAD a job, and your employer only had B trucks, and you wanted to retire there........then you'd have no need for the A.
right now, the states are not releasing federal funds quick enough for re-training. parker is good too. the other schools in your area, i am sure, will get you to sign a student loan application, in which when you graduate, you will be paying (about) $50-60 per month starting i believe, the 6th month after you graduate.
seriously, go for the A and be done with it, then you'd be able to rive all classes under that A......
just keep trying, that federal money is due sooner or later. -
True, the A is the best option but I'm in a nasty pinch where I can't afford a loan at the present moment unless I go to my own bank who knows me take out a loan and pay it off with the principle over X years, which is not in my best interest...guess it's back to janitorial work for a while lol
That's good to know about the Fed though...they just need to push it through, there are millions of us out there who would like some funding towards training of some kind. Parker let me know about their loans...18% interest maximum pay off time is two years, I almost keeled over when I heard the interest rate! I'm still irked that I didn't have the time to get trained at my last job, but thus is life right? -
Why not look into a carrier that has their own CDL schools. Schneider is one, Swift another I believe.

I'm in the same predicament, was looking at Tri state in springfield. And none of those companys that will train you are anywhere near here

i went to the nettts in rhode island. they were great. learned alot and im pretty confident enough that i should pass my class a license test without a problem. they also have you sign up for grants and loans right there. they just ask for your last tax return and that determines how you pay or what you pay. also you wont have to start paying the loans back until 6 months after your graduating day. good luck with the decision

yeah, I'm supposed to go tNETTS in N Andover tomorrow am for the tour
-
I am not a fan of the high pressure sales ppl from NETTTS, in fact both reps I met with #### near forced me to sign on the dotted line, I am not cool with that lol

When you get back could you kindly post up your thoughts? lol That looks like where my butt might end up, I'd much prefer Parker though. Oh well!
