Well I tried getting my own plates in Indiana... and it proved to be a royal pain (I didn't get them by the way).
After having bought a truck in 07 I have been leased on to the companies that either paid for them or just supplied there own plates. Now I'm with a company that don't care if I have my own or they can plate my truck which they did but it is pretty expensive so I thought it'll be cheaper to plate it in IN.
At the BMV they wanted exact mileage for every state that I ran in the past year and when I couldn't come up with it they said its going to cost me over $3000 ot plate a truck..
Any advise? I'm planing on moving on and the company that I'm planing to lease on to needs me to have my own plates and IFTA. So I need to do it ASAP.. but they way it looks it'll take a while.
    So any input is appreciated.

IFTA is the easy part. Regarding IRP, I would think you would have that information so you could provide it to the company you were with so they could compute your IFTA. The reason why they want so much money is because they're using estimated mileage which always seems to be on the high side. Happened to me because I had no prior mileage due to just getting my Authority. Seems pricey though. It appears the cost will vary State to State. I'm sure someone will be along here to clarify further.

If you had trip sheets and tracked your mileage, or if you tracked for IFTA, use those numbers and estimate. We recently doubled the states on our IRP and it cost us 1850 for the year. Only $350 more to add 20 something states and Canadian Provinces. Our loads to Washington have been worth it.

I would never pay a company to plate our truck. I argued with my husband over all this when he leased to a company. He's finding I was right to pay out-of-pocket, for everything.
