No questions tonight just had to say I am starting to feel the nerves kicking in as I have less than a month before school starts. I have completed the entire hiring process with Roehl minus the schooling part. Everything appears to be in place I just hope I can drive these trucks.

You can do it... have faith

It is not the craziest thing I have ever done in my life, but it sure feels like it at this moment. There are many trucks on the road but not many can say they drove an 18 wheeler

Save your nervousness for the time when you graduate and get a job, and go down the grades in Colorado your first time.
By the time you graduate, will be when??
If just before winter, I can guarantee you that YOU WILL have all the windows open and the A/C blasting, even if the outside temps are what, 30 degree's???? -
That's what the training is for. To teach you to drive... you'll be fine. If you doubt youself, jut visit your local truckstop and take a good look at the drivers. You will see people of all ilks and you then ask yourself if they have some remarkable quality that sets them apart from you, or are they just people with training you don't have yet.
You'll be fine, just keep your head in the game.Last edited: May 18, 2012

Yeah, my brother was saying that being a little bit nervous (not to the point of paralysis) is a good thing as it heightens your senses and forces you to concentrate on everything, that other, seasoned drivers may get lax about.
Zoltan1a Thanks this. -
Haha yeah some of the individuals at truck stops can be a bit (worn down) to say the least, but just like everything else I seek to do the best I can.

Zoltan1a I too am heading to training in less than a month, I am getting very nervous too. I am going with Millis, Roehl was on the top of my list also. I wish you all the luck.

Relax, you'll find your own comfort zone. Once you're there do not let anyone push you out of that felling. Just pay attention in school and ask questions. At night it would be a good idea to write down your notes from the day. If it were me all over again I would have a laptop and a Word and Excel program to list all the information I could. From good truck stops and cheap fuel to all the inspection points on the truck. I'd keep a history of items that do not come up every day like a turbo seal going out to road construction. What a tool compared to what we had 20 years ago.
