Agreed, I did 26 years policing, yes trucking can be frustrating but it doesn't even come close to the stress I experienced at the PD.

At the Sheriffs department? No. Corrections and transport....although I did help implement the new computer system in the new jail in 1995.

After the Sheriffs department I did field tech for all the big OEM's. It was great but not a lot of money so I tossed trucking in the mix and that made a great combo!

The two of them led me to start edgewaterpc.com and edgewaterflat.com years later....and still going strong with both.

1300 custom built PC's in Northern Ohio and God only knows how many others I have fixed/recovered data from.

And right around 1 million miles in trucking.

    Congratulations.
I switched from full time IT in 2000 to trucking full time from 2001 until Covid19 border crossing BS made me unusable last November.
We'll see what the future brings.

    pumpkinishere and Mattflat362 Thank this.

    More like experts than geeks.
But I love OTR driving so much, it hurts.
    And I love Volvo trucks.
I just applied at Challenger an hour ago.
Canada only for now, since no Vaxx for me.
They'll take my application under consideration asap.
I'm still waiting for the Novavax Novaxovid
Covid19 vaccine to enter production in Montreal.
Traditional style vaccine, not mRNA ####.
    Recently approved by Health Canada.
The production facility needs the licensing to start manufacturing it.

    pumpkinishere and Mattflat362 Thank this.

gg, I've quit Microsoft same 2000 time for trucking. IT knowledge helps a lot though, never needed any "business" software, everything self made, mostly just for the fun of it)

IT was my first career, before trucking.
And I gave up on it due to Microsoft greed.
There is no logic in why should I pay to get trained and certified in something that it'll become obsolete in about 3 years. Windows 2000 server certification was the last 'thingy' that I paid for.
Never again, thank you verry, verry much, Microsoft.

Mr. LEO, it is a lot more satisfying to regret about something I have tried and done but failed, than something I have not tried and done passing the opportunity by.

Biggest 3D "destroyer" is when everyone in the family would understand, that trucking is a source of income, a job, a must have, especially when there are not many other options available. Go for it, at least you'd know if it is something you'll not want to deal with in case of 3D creeping up on you.. on the other hand it may be well rewarding and make you happy)
