We only worked traffic and collisions. Some of the fatalities I worked still haunt me sometimes. The worst part was notifying families that they had lost a loved one. Overall I enjoyed working for the State. When I was on the ACE team we dealt with some characters.

I started out in a jail when I was 18 to get in the retirement system. The day I turned 21 I went to a PD to start but the politics had me moving on to the State where it wasn’t near as bad. Was fortunate enough to make it to retirement.

I still have scenes that haunt me in my sleep especially anything with a child. The more I keep talking on here it seems like I’m making the right choice !

I rotated shifts for 22 of my 26 years, four days on four days off. We rotated from nights to days and back every four months. At least one or two of my off days I worked some security detail a lot of weeks.. I chose to stay in patrol most of the time because I hated office work. I miss a lot of my friends but not the job, too many ######## bosses, thrown under the bus by the public and administration,...and just got so downright dangerous..I had my share of critical incidents .. When I hit my 25 and eligible for my pension I went another year and said see ya! I hope trucking works out for you. If you need any help let me know..a lot of knowledge here and u are in the right place.,..good luck!

Appreciate it brother! Il probably work somewhere off and on for the next 2 years to secure my pension, but don’t see myself going back to it full time unless it gets better.

Anytime! I don't see it getting better anytime soon. Every department I know is so short. This is what all these morons wanted, they got it..stay safe bro!

    No worries.
I have the 3 things carriers would love to pay for:
Time, skills and a great record.
I'll choose who do I work for and when and where.
Or I can just retire and do something else.
