Why not transfer into the Air Force Reserves so you can be working toward a pension? Nobody gets killed in the Air Force except the Air Commandos.

In 12 years (or less?) you'll have earned a 20 yr pension you can start collecting later in life when you'll need it.

Are you aware that some truck companies train you for free?

Most co's. will not allow your dog, that'll be your toughest task.

Air crew, door gunners, (Douglas AC-47 Spooky (also nicknamed "Puff, the Magic Dragon"),pilots, etc. Go to www.virtualwall.org and click on Air Force. 2,586 names listed and how they died in Vietnam. Shows their hometowns also.

But what about those of us retiring and already have a degree. If we don't plan on using our Post 9/11 why not get that extra money from VA to supplement low earning that first year or two? Just makes sense to me.
