After courting a couple of Companies (Star, Maverick, CRST, CR England) I've decided to Haul for U.S Xpress, from what I read, my region (New Jersey) allows for good home time and miles, and that's good enough for me. I understand none of the companies that are willing to hire me straight out of school are going to be "Awesome", but hell I'm ready to work my ### off and make my own way out there.
Anybody done or doing the same thing and want to share their story?

You made a good decision to just get started. Once you get 6 mos. or 1 year experience then can decide if you want to stay with US Express or move on. Congratulations for getting started.
-
You made a good choice. I started with CRST and wish USX was hiring out of my area at that time.
-
Mark my words you will regret that decision. Just give it a couple weeks. They have some of the worst trainers in the bis!!!

Thanks NoCoCraig.
I feel as though I have my priorities in order, I grew up in a Truckers home and I know what to expect. I have Zero Experience thus I am not the Cream of the Crop at the moment. I'm willing to take my licks and work really ##### hard. I've done a lot of research and U.S Xpress seems to be a great fit for me. -
So what should I expect. On the 17th I start Orientation up in Shippingsburg PA. I'm told 3-5 Days at the Campus, followed by a 3 weeks with a Trainer, followed by a little bit of home time, followed by about 5 weeks with a team mate, then I get my own Rig. I'll be running NE Atlantic Regional OTR. I had a really long talk with my recruiter (Shaun, who was great) where he did open up and say that my actual home time would be 36 hours a week, which is fine. Does this all seem correct?
-
I cannot address the regional questions but after your 120 hours behind the wheel with your trainer, you will be out 8 weeks with a teammate. A solo driver needs 34 hours for a re-set so that is what usually determines your home time.

That is funny, USX sent me an e-mail Friday and offered me $1,000.00 to come back to them.

They are sending that out to everyone who ever worked there...I got the email and a postcard.
