You show up on the delivery date on the confirmation and the place is closed and you are forced to deliver the next day when the place is open. Anyone have experience with handling this that can detail how you handled it and how it came out?
Where I'm at now is I told them I needed a new confirmation. They sent one with an extra $100. I ignored it and faxed them that I needed a confirmation to reflect the extra cost of $220 that I incurred, minumum at this time.

I've had this happen about 10 times in my 15 years of driving. The last few times it was pretty easy to to get the shipper or broker to pay for layover pay. Generally I shoot for $500 a day or more depending on the cicrumstances. There was one occurance I had down in Norfolk, VA with a RGN load that got rejected at the port. I got $1000 a day for for days cause it was a specialty trailer and oversize. Included in the daily amount was the extra for additional permits and a few other items. Just make sure you have a signed confirmation sheet from the person paying the bill stating the amount they promised.
