Good luck, that would be great if you get it.
Training is 240 hours so you can finish in less than 6 weeks. It all depends on how much you drive. Make sure your mentor is actually teaching you and not just using you to team. If you aren't learning anything, ask for another mentor. There are some really good ones out there so don't stick with a bad one. -
Thank you Dagger, I'm praying i get a good Mentor that loves to teach and see people grow not just pad the ole wallet.

Ask for a company mentor. I'm enjoying it, some places I've learnt to avoid just through own personal experiences (some shopper in nj has a yard tighter then a fish's ####). It goes up and down my pay, I average $500 a week at the moment (but I'm only on .26 a mile) but they run me hard, my avg is around 3,000 a week, gonna be cracking 4,000 this week (extra day because of coming of home time a day before the week started). It really also depends on your attitude and your Dm, my Dm is on the ball, but a stickler for the rules, ala she won't try and swing me more then 4 days off, but is fantastic. Being in wa the 55mph speed limit their and in Cali will drive you nuts, other then that, enjoy the sites, this country is the most beautiful in the world with something different in every state (although I recommend driving across nm and west texas at night)

It is hard on a regular family, very hard on a young family. But the men have to do what it takes to earn. Where my dad is from they sucked coal dust into their lungs to bring home some cash...
You do what you have to, and hope the better positions become available sooner than later.

Not at swift, and probably not at any starter company

you really need to put in your first year to be able to apply to jobs that get you home regularly from what i have seen. Myself I never worked a job I was home much my wife would divorce me if I was home much now
CenutryClass Thanks this. -

thanks for the help. as far as better positions coming sooner than later, my brother inlaw has his own truck and company, and does very well for himself. I will be going with him once i get the exp. his insurance company requires to take me on. i have an 8 year old daughter who can handle it, but also a newborn son who i would like to come check in on every week if even for 1 day, rather than him not knowing me because im NEVER home. I will keep looking but i need to be on the road in 3 weeks max, unemployment isnt cutting it and me being home all day almost everyday is taking a toll on my wife and I haha
